Dr. John Champlin Glacier Park

Reviewed By Strudel57 - Westerly, United States

This park has wide dirt paths. It is a little hilly. I have never seen it crowded. Dogs are allowed, but not their poop. Many dog owners seem to ignore that rule. As with any wooded area, spray for ticks...no matter what time of year. Skip this place in hot summer as it is filled with mosquitoes. In the Fall, the crisp smell of the changing seasons, the brilliance of the changing color of the leaves and if you listen carefully you can hear the ocean which is about 1 mile away

The Local Motion Bike Ferry

Opening day is May 28, 2021! The Local Motion Bike Ferry is a unique way to travel across the gap in the Colchester Causeway along the Island Line Trail. The 45-foot long pontoon boat has been equipped with bike racks and comfortable seats to carry bikers and walkers between Colchester and the Hero Islands. The 200-foot wide gap in the Causeway is bridged by the Bike Ferry, turning the ride into a novel and beautiful biking experience. From downtown Burlington, you can travel by foot or by bike along the 13-mile Island Line Trail. The final three miles are on the Colchester Causeway, a strip of raised land extending into Lake Champlain that is bridged by the Local Motion Bike Ferry and surrounded by water and mountain views. The experienced crew will direct you to load your bike onto the boat and will share some fun facts about the mountain views.

We're blessed to have this amazing resource right in our back yard! Throughout the season, we ride our bikes north from Colchester, up the breathtaking causeway, across the cut via the jaunty bike ferry, and on to favorite activities in the islands l like a wine tasting, ice cream cones, and markets.

K1 Express gondola

Reviewed By kingbyriverk - Mid Coast Maine, United States

Yes, It's a bit pricey. $30 per person for 1 round trip. But you get your own gondola for the ten minute ride and on a clear day the view is pretty sweet. I know the giant hogweed is a dangerous plant, but it sure makes a nice wildflower meadow for photos. The gondola takes you to the Peak Lodge which is by far the best top of the mountain place to eat or drink that we've ever seen, and we've seen a bunch. Lovely views and easy hiking trails. Take the ride!

Pemigewasset Overlook

Reviewed By mainemountainbear - Texas Gulf Coast, United States

This scenic overlook was in the White Mountains National Forest, on the Kancamagus Scenic Byway (NH 112), a short drive from Lincoln. Designated parking required proof of having paid a day use fee. Engaging displays interpreted local history and ecology; I only wished they’d been in better condition. Clean rest facilities were onsite. For mountain scenery, with views to the west and the south, there may be no better stop on the Byway.

Water Place Park

Watch a street artist sketching the city, enjoy a lovely stroll by the river past Venice inspired bridges or see some wonderful public art, all at this well-designed four-acre park and scenic riverwalk, considered to be the heart of the restoration of Providence's downtown area.

Reviewed By travelingirlz - Drummond Island, United States

We were just there a short time but did enjoy the bridges and walkways of the Riverwalk. Sadly we arrived the day after the final FireWater show. Nearby are PF Changs, Panera Bread and other restaurants, the train station is a 5 to 10 min walk (depending on your abilities) so if you arrive for your train really early then it's a nice place to take a walk. Capitol Building is right across from the train station so it too is a place to visit. I. always enjoy when multiple things are near each other, so was delighted to realize the RiverWalk, train station, Capitol Building and restaurants are nearby!
