Augustinerkirche

Reviewed By KLE2013 - Centreville, United States

Located in a quiet corner of the Hofburg complex, the Augstinerkirche has a non impressive exterior but do go in and discover a visually stunning interior. While the building was built during the 14th century, the interior dates from the late 18 th century and has the most elaborate Baroque decor with soaring columns, ribbed vaults, floating chandeliers, monumental sculptures and a massive organ. The amazing pyramidal Tomb of Archduchess Maria-Christina on the right was sculpted by the great Antonio Canova. As this was the Imperial Church of the Hapsburg Dynasty, in the small Loreto Capel to the right of the main altar, the hearts of 50+ Hapsburg Emperors are preserved in silver urns.

Kirche am Steinhof

Reviewed By Gulliver07

The setting is in the middle of a beautiful recreation area of meadows and forest. It is easily reached from downtown via public transport. It is definitely worth a visit for its architecture, the splendid restoration that used real gold plating on its cupola, the beautiful stained-glass windows as well as its fascinating history. I frequently visit Vienna and always make a visit to the Kirche am Stainhof. Take a guided tour by all means, but if you only speak English, make sure your guide is aware of it.

Church of the Teutonic Order

Reviewed By VoixDuChocolat - Walla Walla, United States

First, be advised that, at this writing, the Treasury is open only for two-hour time slots, one slot per day for five days a week (be sure you check the website for details). There are only a few rooms, but give yourself time here. You'll want to linger over the Papal bull, the elaborate tableware, the bejeweled weaponry, the wax imprints of nobles' seals, the coins, and more. A gorgeous collection and well worth your time.

St. Rupert's Church (Ruprechtskirche)

Reviewed By 159terencej - London, United Kingdom

This is the oldest church in Vienna. In the Centre of town near Schwedenplatz and yet hidden. Found this gem at the end of the Vienna Free Walking Tour. I was somewhat reluctant to review this less touristy sight but it is important to share with our fellow travellers....you’d do the same for me....wouldn’t you?! The perfect place for quiet exploration, contemplation before heading back into the rest of the beautiful city. I recommend you find it and experience it

Minoritenkirche

Reviewed By AZFam-Travel - Arizona, United States

This church has a life sized mosaic replica of Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper" made in the 1800s. It was very pretty and the church was not very busy at all. There is no fee to enter the church.
