II love the architecture of this Gothic style church. Its solitary spire, two towers and small windows, all contribute towards the appearance of reaching upwards towards the sky and the heavens above. The building conveys a strong sensed of spirituality and I am sure that many people admire it, as they travel by.

St Francis Xavier Cathedral is the oldest Catholic cathedral church in Australia,It Is named in honor of St Francis Xavier, the Apostle to the East. St Francis was Spanish; he was a member of the Society of Jesus, often called the Jesuits. This magnificent church is well worth seeing, even if you are not Catholic. It is active in its ministry to the people of Adelaide -- "weddings, funerals, everything."

Outstanding architectural gem with traditional worship, a fine pipe organ and an active Live Arts program.

Visited on Wednesday 4th March. Was lucky enough to be in Moonta when the church was open, entry is a gold coin donation. The guide there was very informative.
