Famous for Bourbon Country and horse farms, civil war battlefields and beautiful natural parks, Kentucky offers a delightful mix of experiences. You might begin in Lexington, where the 1200-acre Kentucky Horse Park is a popular attraction. The university adds exciting sports, impressive art and a vibrant student/professor population to the city. Louisville is similar, where renowned Churchill Downs hosts the annual Kentucky Derby and the Belle of Louisville, the nation’s oldest steam-driven river paddlewheeler, hosts enchanting lunch and dinner cruises along the beautiful Ohio River. Next, head south to visit Mammoth Cave National Park for a day of touring the cave (the world’s longest known cave), hiking and canoeing on the Green River. Paducah, Berea, Bowling Green – so many places to explore and enjoy!

We recently moved to the area and had seen this beautiful church which reminded me of Notre Dame. We stopped on a Monday morning to walk through. While it isn't on the size scale of most Western European churches I've visited, it is equally impressive, especially the stained glass windows. We were surprised at what a phenomenally beautiful cathedral, which reminded us of Europe, could be found in Covington. It is indeed a treasure. The marble along with the intricate mosaics from Germany pair well with the Venetian glass and make this a must see if you are in Northern Kentucky.

Built in 1889 and modeled after a cathedral church in Germany, this magnificent Gothic structure features many interesting architectural details and is still an operating church that serves the Catholic community of Bowling Green.

I have been blessed by annual weekend Friday till Monday retreats solo at the Abbey of Gethsemane for about 20 years. The silence and solitude allows me to be with God in a way that my normal life restricts. Every visit brings me closer to God along my spiritual journey with new insights. As a practical matter I enjoy my wine and cigars. Unfortunately the screen porch off the library is no longer a smoking area. My solution has been to move my contemplation and study to my vehicle in the parking lot. The cost for room and board and worship for three nights is up to you and God. Be generous. Thank you Brothers of Gethsemane for all you do and are!

This cathedral holds a lot of history. If you are interested in history, this place is a one you must visit. The historical building has many artifacts that date back when it was first constructed. If you are just looking to attend mass, this church is ideally located downtown and within a 2-3 minute walk from the Sealbach hotel, on the other side of 4th street live.
