Recommend this place. Despite the signs around town (and ryokan) that Yunoyama is not the tourist drawcard it used to be, the facilities, food and location of this ryokan were extremely enjoyable. The welcome and staff were great. The room was spacious and had a balcony. Dinner in our room and breakfast downstairs were perhaps better than the more expensive ryokan we stayed in the following night (another city). I only used the general bath (I think there's a facility you can book and pay extra for) and it was very nice with an indoor and outdoor pool with a mountain view. Great location for walkers/climbers or ropeway with access to tracks/ropeway just a few mins walk from memory. While overnight is enough time for a visit, I fail to see why this is not a more popular place for overnighters from Yokkaichi or Nagoya. A walk up the river in the afternoon, an overnight stay at Kotobukitei, and a gondola up the mountain with a walk around the top made for a fantastic trip.

From Ijika Daiichi Hotel Kagura, it is the best view of Ise Shima and able to overlook the sunrise from the horizon. The views from the open-air bath and lobby are especially picturesque. Early morning in winter, it is sometimes possible to see Mt.Fuji, and beautiful stars at night. The hotel boasts lobster, abalone cuisine using domestic ingredients.
My husband and I road tripped here from our home in Kansai and had a wonderful 1 night stay here. With a few improvements I think this could be 5! - Room had an incredible picturesque view with “ocean side” selection. We opted for the basic room and was pleasantly surprised! Much larger and more appointed than expected #614. Futons were comfy too. - Dinner was great and the $20 upgrade per person was worth it. The presentation alone was impressive (fish head decor! Lol) However, the Ise shrimp was way over cooked and no flavor ~ we couldn’t eat it and was bummed! Breakfast in the main dining room was fine too, appreciated the few western items hehe - Customer Service a bit lazy and slim. No one offered to help with luggage when we arrived lol We also felt very rushed during dinner - it was comical actually, the attendant was lingering and kept coming in when we closed the door (as it was noisy being across the service elevator room). Also weird experience buying special yukata w/ male staff being super up close uncomfortable hahaha would have appreciated woman staff help. - Onsens were good but not amazing. On par for price point. Could be a bit cleaner on the grout. They charge extra I’d you need towels so we just air dried. They should spin it as an eco play to not come off as cheap lol I understand the tactic to curb towel abuse though so whatever. - Very happy with their karaoke private room, 90 minutes for a super reasonable price with great song selection and seemed new. Staff that helped was kind. - Random vending machines around property for snacks and drinks of all kinds was fun. All in all, would return maybe even 2 nights! Very fair pricing. Perhaps being the family next time. The area is wonderful and more to explore. Thanks for a comfortable and enjoyable time!

We were visiting Kochoran during our trip from Nagoya to Ise. When we arrive the hotel shuttle is a white limo with driver warm welcoming. After checkin, we went out for a walk. Nothing much nearby. Room is big on the second floor, arond 600sq feet We head back to the hotel for a quick bath. Onsen hotspring water was hot and just right with the temperature. Clean and nice setup. I also had the open top Onsen the next morning, which the view was stunning. Food, is among the top class in Onsen hotel. Dinner, serving the seasonal seafood inside the room. Lobster, scallops, fish, shrimps. Breakfast, traditional Japanese style, served with seasonal ingredients. As a foreign visitor to Mie Prefecture, we were awarded 10k yen credits for each person to spend on shops and restaurent. We used the credits in the hotel souvenirs shop. This is part of the government promotion and end in Feb 2016. Staff were extremely warm and helpful. Definitely will visit again. Been to lots of other Onsen, this is one of the hidden gem not to be miss. I would give 4.5 stars overall.

Coming to Toba often I have wanted to stay at Senpokaku to see what it’s like. It has a commanding position in the mountains above Toba. Good value for money at just under ¥6000 per night (no food) but including taxes and the ¥150 bathing fee. Hotel offers a free shuttle service between 2.40 - 6 pm from the Kintetsu side of Toba station....checkout is 10 am and the last shuttle back down to the station is at 10.20 (but it’s an easy walk downhill to the (sleepy) town below.A lot of the places close in Toba on Wednesdays so bear that in mind. The good things about the hotel:Good and strong wifi signal in the room. Very nice indoor and outdoor baths on the 7th floor...but they are in different places so you need to dry off and move to enjoy both...which is a little inconvenient! The baths were empty between 8.30 - 9 in the morning (they close between 9 am - 3 pm) The staff were pleasant ,spoke a little English and hand out a simple instruction sheet in English when you check in to explain about the baths etc. The view from the 5th floor was pleasant of the mountainside and down to the water in the distance. On the downside...the hotel is old and the room while large for 1 person could do with a refurbishment as the sink, tatami mats, sitting area and walls/doors were stained and rather unappealing....and there was a lingering smell of smoke (not sure if this hotel distinguishes between smoking and non-smoking rooms) Also there are no English instructions in the rooms so you might struggle with finding the bilingual button on the TV remote control or how to heat the water and use the Japanese kettle! All in all ok for an overnight stay and probably quite pretty views in autumn and spring when the trees are changing colour and the cherry blossoms are in bloom!
