Enjoy the French art of hospitality while staying in the district of Carrasco, the best location in Montevideo. With 116 rooms and luxury suites offering a high level of comfort and privacy, a revitalizing spa, a tempting restaurant, a vibrant bar and the charming Tea Gallery, the renovated Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco and Spa will take you back in time to the glamor and history of the early 20th century. Perfect for both leisure and business guests.
Beautiful historic hotel in a good location. Staff was nice and helpful. Rooms were clean, just a little dated. Beds were comfortable. The water closet is on the other side of where the shower is, so that was interesting. Shower pressure is great, but the way it’s shaped the floor got pretty wet every time. Getting a nice window view at the back of the hotel is optimal as there will be something to see in the day and evening. Great thing about the hotel is the awesome location. You are in front of the riverside, but in the back of the hotel you are in walking distance to tons of great shops and restaurants. The area feels safe and the walk is easy to tons of stores.

Nice rooms, great bathroom, Nice common areas. Lacks staff to help with luggage. Breakfast nice, but not great. Restaurant great. NEGATIVE: the gym should open at 6, but the managers were late. The two treadmills were in terrible condition, everything looked good, but it was just appearance.

Amid the neo-classical and art deco structures of Montevideo's city center, riverside NH Montevideo Columbia beckons guests with its welcoming, contemporary appeal.
I was treatend by Mariana at the reception That try to make me pay a fake bill plus trying to make me pay 360 $ for a covi d test . And them treatend me that I was an American citizen at Uruguay . Room was dirty and she ask me if I can bring er to America ??? I am married and straight. Hotel area was dangerous . Rest of receptionist were nice and told me that she was very Messi. I ask for a manager and she said there was no one and that the owner was from Thailand . It make me feel scared intimidated and unsafe. She can’t not print my covi d negative nor my boarding passes but the others later could . I love the NH hotels around the world but this one was horrible and the taxi driver told me that it was the worse hotel when I just arrive there ???

El Hotel se encuentra ABIERTO !!! tomando las medidas sanitarias correspondientes.
We recently stayed at the Sur Hotel in Montevideo as part of our trip to Uruguay. We have stayed at the Sur Hotel multiple times over the years, and as always, our stay at this charming and comfortable hotel was fabulous! Not only is it perfectly situated very close to downtown, the Old City, and El Mercado del Puerto, but the service from the staff is always exceptional! The owners helped us book a car from the airport, and also a car to Piriapolis. They always give us great advise about where the best restaurants are and they are just lovely people. We are always so grateful to have stayed in such a warm, comfortable, and friendly environment. It is the only place we will stay when we are in Montevideo!! Thank you Rafael and Adriana!!

We had a wonderful trip ... I wanted to do something for my wife's birthday so I had emailed the manager before we got there to see if they had anything special for her birthday. The manager was great by saying they would have a cake ready for her as a surprise after dinner at the restaurant. It was so nice to have this surprise for her. The food was not bad and the cake was free. We got our room witch was nice but could use some up grading. The pool was very clean and we also got a message. If you get a message know it is for relaxing not for a hard massage.

Hotel Complex located on the Atlantic coast of Rocha, in the La Pedrera spa 100 meters from El Desplayado Beach. Ideal for families, student groups, senior groups, honeymoon trips, farewells, etc. It has rooms all equipped with air conditioning, led TV, DirecTV, minibar, Wi Fi, private bathroom, maid service every day. Enclosed heated pool with lounge area, toilets and showers, changing rooms. Open pool, with solarium area, barbecue areas Park of more than 2000 meters, facing the sea, games for children, games room, lobby, cafeteria, etc. We are 5 blocks from the Principal Avenue of the Spa. There you will find restaurants, bars, pubs, food shops, supermarkets, clothing stores, craft fairs, etc. La Pedrera is located 9 km from La Paloma, on Route 15 to 27 km from Rocha capital, 120 km from Punta del Este. It is located 250 km from Montevideo by route 9 and 10. It is a Hotel built in the 50s, still maintains features of that time, with huge patios and gardens under the tall pine trees that surround it. You can enjoy the sea breeze, the views are spectacular, the attention to make you feel that you are "at home" is our mission.
If you like to go to standard hotels, like the "resort type" that the rooms, the gardens, the pools, the food, are the same, and you dont notice in what country you are, dont come here. La Pedrera Hotel is located in a beautiful beach in Uruguay, named La pedrera, it was founded when nothing existed in this town, not even the town itself, by the same family that owns it still. So you can see the pictures of the hotel in its beginnings with the actual owner as a child. The common areas, both swimming pools, one out side and an indoor temperate one, really warm, the dinning room, the game living room are great, wide spaces with beautiful views. It is located 2 blocks from the beach and about 4 blocks to the main street full of original reaturants and small stores. The breakfast has wonderful pastries and cakes, however needs to add some whole wheat bread and protein stuff. The rooms we chose, were the ones with no sea view, we chose them because they had a beautiful terrace, wood made, surrounded by pine trees and birds. The room itself was small, with old furniture, in not so good shape, the bathroom was ok but with no air extraction, the owner is working on it. We didnt care about the room because with that terrace and the common spaces we enjoy a lot the place and we just used to sleep, with a good air conditioning device. The people are extremely nice, open to what ever you need, they changed our tv set for a better one in our request. If you like the sea view, they are a little bit newer, but you will have sun in the morning, in case you like to wake up late. It was a great experience, the staff is friendly and are willing to please you in a familiar way.

The cabin we stayed in (number 16) was nice, well furnished, clean. It was beyond wi-fi range. We had to pay for the full stay amount at check-in. No credit cards accepted. When we arrived the office was closed yet a sign on the window led us to our cabin and the key was on the door. No air-conditioning or breakfast. While the website shows a restaurant, it was closed two years ago due to lack of customers. However, there are nearby mini-markets that are well stocked. Overall a good experience.

We just wrapped up our stay at Carmelo. My husband and I visited with our seven month old baby. At first we had some minor difficulties locating the property (Google Maps has this property in the wrong location in Carmelo, be forewarned) and with our room upon check-in, however the tram at Carmelo went well above and beyond to ensure that our experience met our expectations. Sebastián, the general manager, in particular was exceedingly helpful. We stayed in a duplex and the rooms are very large. The bedroom and bathroom were excellent, while the furniture in the living room was totally acceptable albeit somewhat dated. The lobby and property itself is stunning. March was an interesting time to go as the property was fairly empty. The two days that we were there we were the only people at the pool. You almost feel like you’re at summer camp or in a lodge in the mountains while on the property. We would certainly come back. We visited other hotels and B&Bs in the area for lunch or dinner, and every time we left I was SO thankful that we chose to stay at Carmelo and not one of the other properties that all appeared a bit run down. A couple areas of improvement: - the food was not good at Carmelo or Narbona. We couldn’t finish our meals. They are using US prices, so the meals were expensive and mediocre. Better option are to try some local restaurants. Basta Pedro was our favorite. Overall we found the food in Uruguay to be fairly poor, but this restaurant was reasonable. So if you are t going to love the meals, at least make sure you aren’t paying $25 per plate and have a bad meal at $5 per plate :). - the lobby of the hotel is beautiful and grand. Some music in the lobby could really make it even better. - a fire in the fireplace would also really add to the character. Seriously the lobby would double in grandeur with music and a fire going. It would be grand. All in all, I’m picky with hotels and I was very satisfied here. The rooms are large and only a little dated, but that is made up for by the pools, lobby, and other facilities. The staff are excellent. This is the best option in Carmelo.

We stayed for one night on our way to Montevideo from Rocha. The hotel looks very nice, our room was very spacious, high ceiling, plenty of light and a balcony overlooking the pool. We were not explained anything about the facilities, breakfast. The reception team was not particularly friendly. In the afternoon we decided to ask about the Spa and one of the guys at reception said. "You are not staying with us right"? Well... yes we are, we are not passer by people enquiring about the Spa. Not impressed at all. We came across 2 or 3 members of staff who were welcoming and helpful. I would suggest the management to train the staff on manners and how to make your paying guests feel welcome and willing to come back. We have stayed in much cheaper hotels in Punta del Este and felt 100 times more welcome. Sometimes less is more.
