We are a small, locally owned and family operated resort offering limited occupancy and catering for our resort guests exclusively. This ensures our guests enjoy a quiet, peaceful and relaxed atmosphere around the resort. Established in 1979 and located on the beachfront at Ha'atafu Beach .... Tongatapu's premier swimming, snorkelling and recreational beach. We welcome families with children.
I’ve just spent a week at Ha’atafu Beach Resort. It’s a beautiful, quiet place on a lovely lagoon with great surfing out past the reef if you want. Moana and Hola are genial, big hearted, warm and friendly hosts with big laughs. They’ll tell you all you want to know about Tongan life and culture. Everyone sits round eating together and the food is delicious. Every evening a huge banquet of fresh, home-cooked food appears, usually including fish caught by the staff that morning. The cabins are comfy - not luxurious but they have everything you need. As a solo traveller it was an easy place to hang out. I loved my week there and could easily have stayed much longer. Keleti Resort is a tourist favorite and it is the closest get-away only 10 minutes from the capital, Nuku'alofa. We have private beaches, a great restaurant, a bar which is the best in the kingdom, as well as excellent accommodation consisting of fales and studios units, all offering expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. Come, relax and feel the sea breeze from the cliffs of Keleti Resort and be mesmerized by our natural beauty.
We were the only guests for most of our week long stay here and were looked after wonderfully. The facilities are minimal but you'll have everything you need. The location is lovely with one of the most interesting beaches in Tonga, with blow holes and excellent snorkelling. We stayed during a hurricane so the weather affected our trip a little bit - the owner gave us a free night because of this. Totally unnecessary and unexpected but a very very kind gesture. We didn't want to leave Tonga after our trip, such a unique place.

The lodge serves freshly caught fish every day with an amazing menu using their own home grown organic produce - fine dining island style!Whale watching, fishing, diving, snorkeling, local land and sea village tours, sunset drinks at the lookout, massages and chilling in hammocks are just a few of the things that you can do.You will not be disappointed with our special piece of paradise!
After 4 trips to Ika Lahi, could it get better, you bet, the fishing is great and the food is always superb. Whether you want to relax and read a book, Kayak in the sheltered lagoon, fish with the ever fresh Steve, snorkel around the lagoon and entrance, or dine on Caroline's superb cuisine, this lodge has to be the most amazing South Pacific Lodge you could find. The mix of location and excellent hosts makes this a place we will always return to.

This review relates to the dinner and the show. If you don't enjoy this then you should look at the reason why you visited Tonga. The location, tucked under rugged rocks on the water's edge, has been created into a true aurthentic setting using local resources. No plastic to be seen. The meal was varied and plentiful making use of dishes of local produce presented with care and served by family members and village members. The show portrayed the wonders of Tongan culture presented in a cave crafted to create a theatre for excellent viewing and sound. Well done to the family for creating this venue and also producing excellent food and dance. If you feel uncomfortable about the trek down the steep pathway to the venue then there is a four wheel drive to help you reach the location via the beach. Well done Ohelei Beach Resort, a truly wonderful experience.

This place is a disgrace - we didn't expect much except the basics and they were so bad and was falsely advertised. No pick up from the airport, bed sheets filthy showers useless no flushing toilet, no running water, rubbish all over the place and felt very unsafe. Beach was full of glass - no breakfest or wifi as advertised. We paid before we got there so couldn't leave but the worsed thing is, it has so much potential as it is in a good location - no food so had to visit other near by resorts.. Just really disappointed but we did find Tonga a really beautiful place
Vaimalo Fales Vava'u has 2 Fales built over the crystal clear waters of Vaimalo. Both Fales are fully furnished with en suite bathrooms. They also are self catering. Traditional Fale is just steps away from the water and has a separate private bathroom and kitchen area. Built in the traditional Tongan style.
