Beacon Hill Farm has 15 4 & 5 star Gold Award cottages set in 20 acres of gardens in the centre of a 360 acre estate near the Northumbrian coast. We also have a Treehouse and 3 luxury Shepherds Huts- all sleeping two. We have a fabulous Spa easily accessed with a short walk through the gardens from all the cottages. Beacon Hill is a wonderful place from which to discover the beauties that Northumberland offers from the heritage coast to Alnwick Garden. We are ideally positioned to visit the many National Trust properties in the area. PLEASE NOTE:- The cottages are let for 7 nights minimum from April til October. The Treehouse and Hideaways are available for short breaks all the year round. Sorry, although we have Milo a Jack Russell, we no longer accept pets after bitter experience.
We had the loveliest 2 night stay at Beacon Hill in one of their pretty new Shepherds Huts. With surrounding views which were phenomenal, a hut packed with everything you’d need & more and fantastic amenities & facilities to use at ease, we had a brilliant stay. The guest book app worked so well to help guide our stay. The welcome pack was a delightful additional detail that made the start of our stay a warm one. We have stayed in many a luxury pod but none have offered us unlimited wood for the fires & bbqs. The grounds offered plenty for us to occupy ourselves with and we were a short drive from Morpeth for food and a couple of drinks one evening. We dealt with Alun & Clare during our stay who couldn’t have been any more accommodating by ensuring we had additional access to the spa when it was free, taking us & our luggage down to the hut in a golf buggy & having great communication with us throughout. I’d highly recommend to anyone & after seeing the touches that Beacon Hill offer for families and children, I wouldn’t hesitate to return with the rest of our family. A beautiful place ran by a welcoming family.

A stone's throw from some of the finest beaches and heritage sites in the country, Ellingham is ideally placed to allow you to explore this wonderful corner of England. 40 minutes from Newcastle, 10 minutes from Alnwick and 20 miles from Berwick upon Tweed.
Please allow me to spend a couple of minutes singing the praises of this exquisite wedding venue. If you choose to check my other reviews you will notice that I tend to post infrequently and only tend to put the outstanding ones on. Are you still here, thanks and let's go... I attended a wedding yesterday at this venue and within the lovely grounds. There are peacocks who happily mingle on the manicured lawns. The overall feeling of the venue is one of contemporary shine to a traditional family hall. Quirky (dog portraits etc) but nothing that didn’t fit sympathetically, and the loos were sparkling. The entire place was geared up for it making an unforgettable ceremony in a lovely setting. Weddings can be compromised by the food; not here. I have no idea how they manage to serve up 80 guests the lightest cheese soufflé with minimal delay, simultaneously with at the conclusion of speeches the duration the kitchen could not possibly predict. The main courses were equally beautifully presented and delivered with unfussy efficiency; I opted for a panna cotta to follow and it too was exquisite. This is a real cut above from the ordinary. After all entertaining your guests is one of the key facets of the day, then the venue must be on your list. Staff can make or break the event and I must say they were tremendous. Unobtrusive and yet very efficient. A nod to the attention to detail was the young lady who delivered the post photo drinks and stood by to ensure that guests got their correct choice. (she did make mention that she didn’t mix the drinks, but I advised her to take credit anyway). In no particular order then, great wedding venue, lovely staff, excellent food, bars with premium brand beverages, fantastic grounds, excellent PA system for the speeches, good parking – happy days guaranteed. Thanks for the opportunity!

Run by Susan and Lewis Watson and Claire and William Watson-Laney, Roses Bower is a working sheep farm set within 230 acres of upland pasture in the Northumberland National Park, close to the forestry village of Stonehaugh. The beautiful Warksburn meanders along the Southern border of the farm and the ancient woodland along its banks provides a haven for a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The spectacular Roaring Hole Waterfall is located directly below the farm steading and the pool below provides the more adventurous with an opportunity to swim. The pool is the final destination for sea trout running up the Warksburn from the North Tyne.
What a wonderful stay we had here!!! Never stayed anywhere before where such thought and effort was put into every aspect of the stay. Most relaxing break we've ever had ???? Amazing location, spectacular views, just heaven.

This very cosy cottage with wood burning stove is the place to come to get away from it all. Pets welcome.Alnham Farm enjoys the very best of rural Northumberland with fantastic views, great walks, superb wildlife not to mention peace and tranquillity. Come on your own, with family or with friends and stay, relax enjoy!
We spent a week at Alhnam farm, staying in the Gatehouse, 2 adults and 2 children (aged 10). We arrived in the middle of lambing season. The girls had the best experience, "helping" to look after all the newborn lambs, and making friends with the sheep dogs. Thank you so much to the Jenny and Harry for their patience and the warm welcome we received (including delicious homemade chocolate cake on arrival). The cottage was extremely comfortable, the surrounding area and the night skies just beautiful and yet still really handy for accessing the best of Northumbrian places to visit. A wonderful week, will definitely be back.

The Carriage House ia a Luxury 5 - Star Self-catering Holiday Cottage in the Heart of the Northumberland Countyside. Located in the quiet rural setting of Ulgham Village, the cottage is close to Alnwick Castle and the beautiful, unspoilt Northumbria coastline and beaches
This cottage is ideal for a total RELAX!! Dawn the owner provided us with a lovely welcome bottle of wine…. But not only that there was milk in the fridge, and a jar of coffee. There was an absolutely delicious home made cake and some local fudge and a sharing cheesy loaf!!!!! The kitchen had cleaning products and tablets for the dishwasher. Towels were provided for the hot tub, separate from the bathroom towels also provided. Wi-Fi was spot on. A basket of logs is also provided for the lovely log burning fire. The hot tub is a good size and easy to access. Overall….. and I never leave reviews… I would definitely go back. Lovely cottage, lovely owners.

We have just had a 7 night stay in a superior Lodge at Rothbury which we have thoroughly enjoyed & can highly recommend. They provide towels, washing up liquid & sponge & a kitchen towel but oddly no dishcloth although I had taken my own. There is a dishwasher but at the moment isn’t in use. The bathroom has a shower over a bath but I would prefer a walk in shower. The bath needs a grab rail on the wall as it’s really difficult to get out & above the radiator a towel rail is also needed. But apart from these small issues the Lodge is spacious & very good. The position is wonderful in a beautiful scenic valley. Rothbury is a lovely town with good individual shops. We found everyone really friendly and very helpful and can’t wait to return.

Just returned from a 2nd holiday at Strathmore barns. There will be a 3rd. Beautifully converted 20yrs ago, Marion and John have made a few improvements. WiFi has been added, although previously it wasn't missed. The bathrooms have had a makeover and all the beds have new mattresses. I can't speak for others but my usual broken sleep routine was replaced with 7 hours straight. Gated, private court yard keeps children/dogs safe from the main road. Climbing frame/swings/outdoor toys in a secluded corner. Nothing is too much trouble for our hosts but they're not mind readers. If there's an issue, tell them. They'll go out of their way to make your visit the best it can be. This is a working farm with all its delights and it will include mooing cattle (which you're welcome to visit, just check with M/J first incase there is big machinery on site), crowing cockerels (farm across the road) and the noise of heavy plant. All of these things are occasional and not constant but they do add authenticity.

Beautiful town and views from the windows of this property. Sadly that is where the positives end. The swimming pool we looked forward to when we booked in June to come here was drained, no warning of this.... the “luxury” apartments that are on sale for 1.4 million are poorly maintained, poorly provided and overall a disappointment for the 540 we paid for a week. The bed was clean but hard, the shower room dirty. There was no lighting in the tight car park nor the harbour entrance to this property and so you have to use the light of your phone to prevent falling. The oven/ grill didn’t work, the extractor fan filled the kitchen with grease fumes, the heating was always on and so difficult to regulate the heat and no welcome/information pack to enable you to manage the property nor familiarise yourself with the surrounding area. Seahouses however is delightful and well worth a visit. Some lovely restaurants and walks. Would recommend a Farne islands boat trip and a trip to Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle.
