Located in a forest in the heart of the Masai Mara, Little Governors' is intimate in character. The luxury en-suite tents are tucked around a large water-hole clearing that teems with life. Beyond, lie the grasslands of the Masai Mara and the deep blue Olololo Ridge Escarpment. Arriving in Camp is an adventure, leaving your vehicle behind you cross the Mara River by boat and are escorted on foot through the forest to the camp. Governors has been pioneering immersive and transformational safaris in the Mara since 1972. We were the first operators to be permanently based inside the Mara, our site was chosen for its prime location and was the designated “getaway” for the Governors of Kenya. Unfenced and right in the heart of the action. Our camps are Located in some of the best and most precious Wildlife Locations in the world. We are a family with a colourful cast of characters that embodies the spirit of safari, while placing the care of the environment, community and conservation at the heart of everything we do.
I decided to come to the Mara before a work trip in Nairobi. LG was very easy to book and communicate with . I came directly from my international flight to the Mara so the driver dropped me off at the LG’s lounge at Wilson. I was able to store some of my luggage with them so I could have a lighter bag for the flight to the Mara. The accommodations at little governors are clean, spacious and comfortable (especially the mattress!) the tents are sealed so there were bugs in the tents. the food was delicious and the staff were attentive and friendly. The view from the lobby is spectacular with elephants, rhinos, birds and giraffes. I would stay here again for the view!

Experience total freedom in your own bush house in the heart of the Maasai Mara conservancies. Animals stroll right past the front doors of all three of these private sanctuaries, and you have total freedom to set the pace of your own safari escape. Mara, Acacia and Topi houses are all seriously comfortable – although there is no resident host, a full complement of staff takes care of your every need. Each house accommodates six people in three double rooms, so they are ideal for couples, families and groups. Even better, you have the freedom to personally design your own itinerary. With detailed personal service, home-from-home hospitality and unequalled wildlife expertise, a safari at Mara Bush Houses is a unique and exclusive adventure.
No words are enough to express the joy of returning to the same house we visited 5 years back. Nothing has changed, the same serene set-up, the same smiling staff (some have changed, and moved on with new responsibilities in other Asilia camps), the same hospitality, delicious food and impeccable services. Last time we picked up the dry season (during migration), this time we opted for wet season just to try out something different to see how the bush experience changes. And glad we did that, it was honestly spectacular. Lush green, brilliant lights for photography, occasional downpour and thundershowers but never a dampener for game viewing, lot of animal babies and some spectacular wildlife viewing. Please read my previous stay review at Mara Bush House, 5 years back (in 2017) - https://www.tripadvisor.in/ShowUserReviews-g294209-d3309460-r512502795-Mara_Bush_Houses_Asilia_Africa-Maasai_Mara_National_Reserve_Rift_Valley_Province.html We have been fortunate enough to get back Martin as our guide, we had a fabulous 6-days with him (3 nights at Acacia House, and previously 3 nights at Encounter Mara, Asilia’s tented camp accommodation in Naboisho conservancy). Martin’s friendly demeanor, his professional abilities and knowledge about animal behavior led to some spectacular sightings this time too. Given the green season, the number of tourists were few, and that added further to the excitement of spotting the game around. Game was abundant, sighting of cats were challenging but not difficult. We did have some spectacular sightings of cheetahs, including witnessing a live hunt (two failed attempts, and third time lucky), lost count on the number of unique lions we saw (3 prides add up to nearly 50+ unique lions) and also the elusive leopard showed up on the last drive – mama leopard with her two cubs. There were several large herd of elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas, topis and plenty of babies across all species. I would like to personally thank each of the staff at Mara Bush House (Acacia House), time and again they have made our stay so memorable. We for sure will return to the house, next time we are in Mara and hope it is soon, sooner ?

Olerai House is the family home of Oria Douglas Hamilton, a native Kenyan of French-Italian origin. The house is nestled within a 400-acre wildlife sanctuary on the North shores of Lake Naivasha. It has been open to guests since 1993, when it acted as a functioning farm. In 2001, it became a wildlife sanctuary and now has over 500 animals grazing harmoniously on its grounds. Zebras, giraffes, water buffalo, gazelles and monkeys greet you at breakfast in the morning, while a chorus of birds chirps overhead. The house is a web of five independent rooms, built from local materials, with beds made of vines, and walls inlaid with glass bottles. Rooms are each personally decorated by Oria with colourful Indian tapestries and local art. Three course meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the room rate, served on hand-made pottery and glassware. They are sumptuous affairs with fresh-baked bread, and soups and salads made from vegetables picked in the organic garden on the grounds.Olerai is the perfect weekend retreat from the bustle of Nairobi, and a wonderful haven for safari journers, eager for a cooler climate in the lush greens of Naivasha. The house is child-friendly and – need we say it? – animal friendly.Activities include:• Hiking up a gentle neighbouring hill with views over the Lake, accompanied by a Samburu warrior• Taking a boat ride through a small adjacent lake, home to 500,000 flamingos and large families of hippos• Walking among the animals in the sanctuary guided by expert on-site ornithologists and zoologists• Swimming in the pool while zebras curiously watch from an arm’s length• Reading a good book on the lawn amidst blankets and pillows• Having a sun-downer by the fire, indoors or out• Mount Longonot and Lake Nakuru National Park are within a one-hour drive
We stayed in The Dairy, a stand alone house in the grounds of Olerai House. I will give an honest review. Firstly, the positives: - Peaceful setting - Good quality food (if expensive / limited portion size) - Animals in garden - Camp fire The negatives: - Very expensive for what it is: overpriced - You have to be escorted around the grounds: this feels very restrictive - The pool is 500 yards away and is essentially part of the owners house - There is no real view of the lake and you cant get near to the water: its obscured by forest and swamp to the banks - The location is on the wrong side of the lake for tourists that want to do the standard tourist activities: expect a min 1hr journey - You need a car to do anything / get anywhere - You must bring all supplies unless you are going to rely on in house catering - Mosquitoes! Don't expect to enjoy the outdoor seating for long without being eaten alive.... - When we asked for help booking a transfer taxi there was some 'funny business' with price and we were charged a premium - You are charged a conservancy fee for what I understand is essentially a private garden?! In spite of the above, we enjoyed the stay but would not return.

Situated near the base of Mt Kenya, Lewa Wilderness is one of Kenya's oldest and most private safari ventures. The Craig family has passed down from one generation to the next a distinct passion for wildlife, conservation and tourism. The lodge is just nine exclusive rooms: six cottages tucked into the hillside overlooking Lewa' s Eastern Marania Valley, plus three garden cottages set amidst the beautiful green lawns. Activities on offer include game drives, guided walks, scenic flights, horseback riding, camel riding and much more.
We spent the most pleasant 3-nights stay at Lewa Wilderness lodge. This lodge is located, with a few others, in the magnificent Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (lewa.org). We stayed in the very ample room #8, which is in fact more like a private house, composed by two separate large beds, a lounge area with private fireplace that was lit every evening while we were away for dinner, a spacious bathroom with a large indoor shower and a private terrace. There are also 2 other beds on the mezzanine. From our comfortable beds we had a fantastic view over the terrace and down to a green valley with a little river where we enjoyed seeing elephants drinking. Each single member from Lewa Wilderness' staff is remarkable for professionalism, politeness and genuine caring and attention to their guests. Our guide Supukia was outstanding in terms of driving and wilderness knowledge. His great professionalism and extreme kindness, showing a sensitive and caring attitude towards us, made us feel as we had been close friends for a longtime. We encountered a big number of different species of animals, including lions, a cheetah, big herds of elephants and most of the traditional game. We particularly enjoyed watching and learning about endangered species such as the Grevy's zebras and the black and white rhinos. Indeed, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is home of 14% of Kenya's total rhino population. One afternoon we went to visit the Lewa observation center located within the Lewa Conservancy's Headquarter. We have been impressed by the human effort and the technical equipment that they have set up to permanently track and protect both elephants and rhinos endangered species and by their strategy aiming to successfully integrate the local communities in their conservancy's activity. We highly recommend a visit to their office, in order to understand the importance and their huge every-day commitment to preserve wildlife. Thank you so much to Isaac for his very comprehensive presentation and to Abraham for further information about this highly valued programme! Another highlight has been our visit to The Farm, the lodge's own farm. Daniel guided us through the vegetable garden, where all type of fresh organic produce are being cultivated, and he answered all our questions, showing his knowledge and passion. They also do their own organic fish farming and produce fresh eggs, milk and goat cheese, then served for our meals at the lodge. We have also seen Lewa Crafts, where they repair and produce all kind of the lodge's furniture. We were so much delighted by that visit! The food at the lodge was perfectly well prepared and delicious, with most of the ingredients delivered freshly by The Farm. All the above visits, as well as the surprise of a memorable bush breakfast, were included in our booked package with the daily drives. We also made ourselves a dream come true by booking a sundowner private flight to Samburu with the very charming pilot Kim : this "Out-Of-Africa" experience is simply unforgettable and is absolutely worth the price. What else to mention apart from being extremely grateful to Kyla, Mush and the entire wonderful Lewa Wilderness team for having made our stay so perfect! We felt part of the Lewa family and will keep all the team as well as the beauty of Lewa in our hearts and minds forever.

I rented 2 houses for my family. Juma from the reception was very professional, pleasant and very prompt to make repairs. The agent who leases the cottages (Shire Dewberry) was very unprofessional, shady and refused to give us a receipt for money paid. We got there late (9pm) and were informed that it was too late to sign paperwork etc, but everything seemed very shady. The agent would then not answer any of our calls. It would be best for the owner to let the office handle all payments so we can sign a contract and agree on services provided. Make it legal!!! Both houses had bed bugs and it seemed like the whole place was bug infested. Most of the appliances were not working properly and they didn't have much in the kitchen to use (only one chopping knife lol). The location is excellent and the design of the cottages are very good but a lot of upgrading needs to be done in the cottages. The bedrooms were nice, but the kitchen needs a lot of upgrading. We couldn't wait to get back home from a terrible vacation.

TAMANI at Galu Beach is situated at the south end of Diani beach. There are 4 two-story beach houses plus 6 newly built apartments, situated within beautiful gardens that run down to the wide, sandy beach. There is an excellent, well-maintained swimming pool within the front gardens and next to the beach. The Beach Houses and Apartments take from 2-10 Persons comfortable.
I would like to share my family’s personal holiday NIGHTMARE at Tamani Galu - Apartment 1. When we settled into the apartment on the very first day, we found that basic amenities were completely delapidated (fan controls, fridge, chairs, etc) and cockroaches in all 3 bed rooms, bed bugs with eggs that are milky white in colour on the bed mattresses and bedsheets (where we had unknowingly put our 4 year old son down to rest! The condition of that flat was inhabitable and unkempt. Really atrocious at a premium rate ($150- $200 per night!) PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - DO NOT GET CONNED as my husband and I did.
