This is an afternoon 3 course dinner in Pullman carriages ( similar to the Orient express) 2 1/2 hours on board over the full length of the East Lancashire railway in finest Lancashier countryside. ELR owned real ale pubs at both Bury and Rawtenstall, We had a 3 course meal with duck breast as the main course .Every course is correctly desribed as fine dining. If want want luxury without breaking the bank this is for you. This train station has 6 platforms including a platform 0.The main entrance at the front has the booking office, this entrance is fully accessible to wheelchair users. At that entrance their is a cash machine and a small cafe. There is a taxi rank, and a blue plaque to ww2 evacuated children. There is also a entrance to the rear with car parking which private hire taxis pick people up from. In one of the connecting tunnels is old post box which you can post letters from. There are 2 cafes on the platforms and a Wh smiths, along with toilets and waiting rooms, also on one of the platforms is a plaque in honor of a vc winner. The trains go to various parts of England and Wales, to the East of England, West of England, London and Greater Manchester and beyond. Always friendly, pleasant and helpful staff. A great railway station.

A well maintained railway station with a couple of food shops but not much else. But then again, it is a transport hub so excellent with frequent services to Liverpool, Manchester and other parts of the North West; and with links to mainline services. Plenty of monitors showing departure/arrival times and other information. Plenty of staff on hand to assist and to answer any queries.
