It’s a very big train station. Reminds me of Londons British rail stations. It’s the gateway to any destination, easily connects you to metro to and from hotel. Also download China train app so you can see times you will not be able to purchase ticket in advance if a foreigner. No credit cards must have cash. Unless you have Alipay. And must have passport to purchase tickets if a foreigner. Welcome to high speed trains they way to travel in China for long distance to major city to city. Can get expensive if traveling in business class which is the way to go. For me it’s privacy and place to relax with out all the load phone calls everyone is making.

Getting around Hong Kong couldn't be easier than with MTR. As MTR lines cover all major districts, it is quick and convenient to explore the whole city. There are nine commuter rail lines with easy interchange as well as a Light Rail network and high-speed Airport Express service. In addition, cross-boundary train service is provided to cities in the Mainland of China. Enjoy your Hong Kong journeys with MTR, operated by the MTR Corporation, one of the world's leading railway operators for safety, reliability and customer service.
Thankfully we had read up on the MTR before visiting and bought a card preloaded with $150 at the airport when we landed - total price $200 as they take a deposit for the card which is refundable when you leave together with the balance. The trains run frequently and google helpfully tells you the most efficient route from A to B so with journeys costing $6 or $10 a time it is a really quick and easy way to explore different parts of Hong Kong. The only challenge we faced was trying to select the correct exit - similar to the London Underground there are numerous exits and sometimes they’re not very well signposted

A very impressive building design. It was so big it was like an international airport. The place is very organised and even for us who speak no Mandarin, it was easy to navigate.

this has to be the best way to traverse the huge city of Shanghai, we were shocked to see how far out our booked hotel was so we decided to get the 3 day metro pass, just 80 juan, (about £9 / $10) what incredible value we used it 10 times a day for the 3 days and the system works incredibly well, lots of trains, short waiting times, spotlessly clean (everywhere) and impressive carriages. all well sign posted with english subtitles, we had a tricky job getting the english language version of the metro map, managing to get one in on elf the tourist info centres, life was much easier then.

The Shanghai Maglev Train or Shanghai Transrapid is a magnetic levitation train line that operates in Shanghai. Top speed of 431 kilometers per hour. The train line connects Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Longyang Road Station (in the outskirts of central Pudong), where passengers can interchange to the Shanghai Metro to continue their trip to the city center. It takes 7 minutes 20 seconds to cover 30 kilometer.

This is a truly excellent service which, depending the timetable and stops, takes 50- 65 mins fro Kowloon West to Guangzhou South. I pre-book via Trip.com for which I pay a booking fee and then another moderate fee when picking-up my ticket at Kowloon West station. It is important for a first time user to be careful to allow sufficient time for ticket collection, HK and PRC immigration processes. Security is a lot less stressful than for travelling by air. This is in my opinion the best way to go from HK to GZ. Two metro lines operate from Guangzhou South so the notoriously troublesome GZ road traffic may be eliminated or reduced depending on a travellers hinal destination address.
