This plan is recommended for those who have too much time left for returning flights or connecting flights, or for those who have just arrived in Japan. The area around Narita Airport has a peaceful rural landscape, but there are many attractive tourist spots. At the Aeronautical Science Museum, you can not only learn about the mechanism of airplanes, but also enjoy the world's largest model operation experience. Mt. Narita, which you will visit in the second half of the tour, is a popular spot with a history of over 1000 years. The gorgeous Buddhist architecture of Mt. Narita Shinshoji Temple, visited by 10 million people every year, is worth to visit. Let's enjoy a little time.

Dress up appropriately and visit the recreated Edo townscape. Boso no Mura is an Open Air Museum with a recreation of the townscape of Tokyo from 200 years ago. To help the time slip feel as real as possible, the museum offers costumes of ninja, samurai and town girls etc, for visitors to try on. Feel free to walk around the recreated Edo town, dressed as people from the Edo period, and take lots of photographs! You can also try candle making, washi painting and experience the traditional sado tea ceremony. Your otomo tour guide will always be there to translate for you. Exclusions: Transportation fee (for yourself and your guide), Entrance fee (for yourself), Lunch (for yourself and your guide), Other personal expenses, Private transportation
The flexibility to chose locations that suited our wants and abilities was great. Hiro San was very quick to put together an itinerary that accommodated a family with a stroller-baby (no monkey park due to long unpacked walking paths). Taking in the beautiful temples and view of the Kyoto from the west was breath taking and the guide was able to explain many things we as new Japanese learners could not read or know through cultural knowledge. Overall a great experience, a wonderful and lively guide, and some great memories.

Historic boat rides and world famous festival floats in Little Edo. Sawara, an area in Chiba, is little known, even to the Japanese. It offers beautiful townscapes of buildings of over 100 years old and the atmosphere of Japan from 200 years ago. Its local festival, the Grand Festival of Sawara, is inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List. Enjoy a quiet boat ride down Ono River that runs through the city center and stroll around the old town of Little Edo that will make you feel as if you have slipped back in time to the Edo period (1603-1868). With great access from the airport, this tour is highly recommended if you are flying into or out of Narita Airport! If you are in the area, Sawara is truly worth a visit.

Narita airport has lots of international flights, so you might use the airport. But Narita is a bit far from center of Tokyo. If you have hours for transit or layover, how about strolling around Narita and explore local Japan? At Narita, there is a big Naritasan Shinshoji temple which has over 1,000 years history. In front of that temple, there is 800m long street called Omotesando. Let's walk and find Japanese local culture and food! (It's private tour, so we could change your itinerary based on your request.)

My husband and 2 sons (ages 11 and 13) loved our virtual tour of Tokyo. Nino was a fantastic guide and filled the hour with historical, cultural and fun facts! She was able to keep all of us at all ages engaged. It was a welcome diversion for this time of no-travel and very few experiences in the world because of the pandemic. We all can't wait to book our trip when the time allows!

While crossing the cycling road on a cross bike, we will visit the Edo period cityscape Sawara and Katori Jingu, which is famous as a power spot. The Tonegawa Cycling Road is flat, so even people without confidence in their physical strength can easily run. Lunch is Sahara or Itako. We have Japanese and Western dishes, so please choose freely. We will pick you up at your hotel in Inzai city, Narita city. You can also pick up at Narita Airport Terminal 1.2. Please let us know your arrival flight in advance. Since it is a private tour with a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 4 people, we will flexibly guide you according to the weather and your physical strength. You can also use the Itako Cycling Road on the opposite bank of the Tone River. In that case, you will increase your mileage by 20 km and run 60 km.
Inclusions: Use of bicycle, Helmet, gloves, cycling wear, Bottled water

If you are the type of person who prefers a local experience vs seeing a hoard of tourists, and you enjoy riding a bike, this this is your best intro to Japan, other than passing a temple with a lot of tourists on the bikes, it was “locals only” .

Rowboats, shrines, festivals and sake breweries! Sawara, a 30 minute train ride away from Narita Airport, is a city in which you can enjoy beautiful historical townscapes of the Edo Period (1603-1868). There is an Important Traditional Building Group Conservation Area in the center of town, and you can row down the river to get a great view of it. In Sawara there is also the house of the man who made the first map of Japan, a traditional festival recognised by UNESCO and the head shrine of several hundred Katori Shrines in Japan. As there is a lot to cover on this tour, you will use bicycles as a means of transportation. If you are flying into or out from Narita Airport, we recommend this tour!
