Sugar was once the lifeblood of Taiwan's economy, not much remains, but this cultural center makes use of the facilities left behind. It's worth a look. Train 843 was made in Japan by Hitachi; it's on display here. There's a small playground and a garden; it's quite pleasant.

The Guangzhou Street Night Market sprawls over a 150-meter-long stretch between Wuzhou Street and Huanhe South Road. The market has a long history and subsequently a wide selection of traditional Taiwanese snacks. In addition to the edibles, thar market is lined with shops selling general merchandise, toys and much more, making this a bustling destination for shoppers and eaters alike. Among the delicious traditional flavor snacks here are chewy squid with satay sauce and wasabi. Crispy deep fried spareribs and fried pork fillets are other favorites here. For something sweet, try the old-style flavor jelly fig ice and tapioca pearls. There are also plenty of amusements to enjoy, from pinball to guppy fishing and pet stores. Longshan Temple and an underground MRT mall are also nearby, and the "Bopiliao" area next to Kangding Road is also a favorite family destination on weekends and holidays.
Visited this place after Longshan Temple which is just across the road. The market was already opened mid afternoon although some stalls were only getting ready. Lots of choices and multi-varieties. Worth a visit.

There were some specialty vendors set up around the square... quality vendors inside also... we enjoyed browsing, and the building itself has lots of history...
