As always? Two banks and a river in between? Not at all. The river surface is still and culming. The hauses are old and beautiful, churches among them, including a monastery, where the main cathedral remembers Ivan the Terrible. Vologda at that time was almost a capital but then a bad occasion happened, and a brick fell on the tsar's head... No one would make a capital of a town that was just about to kill him. Nevertheless Vologda is still there, old, beautiful, generously giving its laces, sweets, views and memories. Try its coffee and cakes anywhere in the city or find a cafe just at the far end of the park after the letter O monument, take a coffee, gaze at the water, taste a cake. Build your memories up.
