Be sure to visit the Passo Sella for beautiful access to the outstandingly scenic Naturonda hike and the excellent Comici Hut. The Passo Sella is a short drive up a steep, twisting, and narrow mountain road from the village of Selva di Val Gardena in the Dolomites of Italy. From the top of the Pass, which sits at roughly 2,200 meters, inviting hikes radiate in different directions. A perennial favorite hike is the Naturonda that begins a short walk from the pass and ends at the not-to-be-missed Comici Hut, which may be the nicest rifugio, or mountain restaurant, in the Dolomites. The Comici hut offers delicious food and friendly service. If nature calls, its bathroom will astonish you. The Naturonda is a relatively easy loop hike that takes about two-hours to complete. A narrower and well-marked trail that begins in a maze-like rock garden takes you to the Comici Hut while a wider, path returns you to the parking lot at the Pass and your car. Though the Naturonda may lack difficulty and length for the serious hiker, it is an extraordinarily beautiful hike with spectacular, high alpine scenery. For the more adventurous, there are ways to prolong the pleasure of being in this magical area by extending the hike. Buon Viaggio.

This stands out magnificently in the middle of Dobbiaco and looks quite demure from the outside. On the inside though the walls and ceilings are covered in the most spectacular frescoes.

We were on a Riviera Travel tour to Lake Garda, Venice, Verona and the Dolomites. Ortisei was our first stopping point out of three on the day that we toured around the Dolomites. It really is a beautiful town. We weere lucky to have a stopover of around an hour that allowed us to do some sightseeing, shopping for gifts, and have coffee and the most wonderful apple strudel in the 'Cafe Corse' which is the subject of another review. Even though it was October we were in Ortisei on gloriously sunny day so probably saw the town at its best. The Zona Pedonale was great as it allowed us to take our time strolling through the town centre without having to bother about traffic. Well worth visting.

Even on an overcast day in October, it was just breathtaking scenery. Leaves changing colors. Magestic peaks. HIke, bike, stroll, ski. Whatever - enjoy.
