Moderately demanding walking (no climbing or scrambling) ascent. Highly rewarding view from the summit towards Jotunheimen and Valdres. Tour description Length: approx. 6 km one way Duration: approx. 2.5–3 hrs. up Altitude difference: ca. 750 meters Suitable for children: from 8 yrs. From Beitostolen, drive to Beito and follow the signs towards Slettefjellvegen. Drive past the toll station (NOK 50 in 2010), continue past Fleinsendin and turn left at the intersection. Parking area on the left side of the road, near Mugnestolen, approx. 3.5 km from the toll station. The path starts on the opposite side of the road and is marked with cairns and white V’s. It leads gently uphill to Mugnebottjernet (pond) and then climbs steeper up into a col. From here you have two options. The steeper and more demanding route (recommended uphill only) turns right, while the main route, which is still steep but less demanding, continues straight ahead for another 300 meters and then turns to the right and uphill, too. The last bit leads through rocky terrain to the summit with a stunning, highly rewarding view towards Jotunheimen and Valdres. Equipment Standard clothing for high mountain walks: solid hiking boots, wind- and waterproof outer layer, warm sweater, hat, mittens, daypack. No special equipment required. Tip: Stay overnight at Gronolen Fjellgard and take a bike to the trail head. This way you get a varied full day tour.

CLOSED for the winter. Opens June 2020. Sagelva Hydropower Center tells the story of how water power has been exploited for more than 300 years. The water power and the different methods of explotation are truly an unique experience! The place has a history dating back to the early 1700s. At that time there was a sawmill and a flourmill at Sagelva. Later on, a clothes press was added around 1845. Today, several different installations such as mills and saws have been restored. The restoration started in 1999, and more than 30,000 man-hours of voluntary work are put into the project. Sagelva Vasskraftsenter is located on the border between the two municipalities Lesja in Gudbrandsdalen and Rauma in Romsdalen. Follow road E 136 about 3km West of Bjorli. Then follow the signs to Broste for about 1,5km.

A priest from the local communiy managed to get down into Helvete (Hell) and when he reached the edge on his way up again, with old, moldy bones in his hands, he said he can now claim being the only priest in the country who have been to Hell and gotten out in one piece!! Northern Europes largest potholes, one of the wildest thing you se and experience in the Norwegian nature!!
First: You need to coordinate hands and feet to walk the route through the potholes of "Helvete". The route is far from extreme, but involves some light climbing where you need to hold on tight to railing. The spectacle is what a river underneath the ice of the previous ice age has dug through the rock. This is a rather deep "canyon" with a series of potholes. The slick, curved walls are impressive to watch and provide a reverbing acoustic experience. It is a very nice example of the wonders of nature. The name is perhaps misplaced. There are no flames or evil here, but one can easily imagine the powers at work to form the potholes. We loved the experience.

The Lom stave church was timber dated to 1158. The church is still in use as the main church in Lom. Inside the church you will find a large collection of paintings from the 1700s and a lot of beautiful acanthus carvings. Over time the church has been rebuilt and enlarged several times, something one can see clear traces of. When the church was restored first in the 70'ies, there was an opportunity for extensive excavations. It was made several interesting findings of pilgrimage brand, rune staves, parchment documents and the largest total of coins found in Norway of 2,245 coins.
Stave church is a church only made of wood structural elements. There are few left because they can easily burn. This one is very well kept and accessible. They also have a brochure for it that comes with the entrance ticket, which is very helpful.
