Every neighborhood in San Francisco has its own personality, from the hippie chic of the Upper Haight to the hipster grit of the Mission. The Marina district boasts trendy bistros and postcard-perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Noe Valley offers quaint and quiet boutiques. Wave hello to the sea lions at Pier 39, and sample local cheese and charcuterie at the Ferry Building. Sit in on a yoga session in Dolores Park or marvel at the Dutch Windmill across from Ocean Beach.

With more than 125 stores on three levels, plus seasonal concerts, festivals or art displays for the enervated shopper.
I once worked here and it was a joy to wander through the shops at lunch time, and then maybe pop into a bar for happy hour. And there are a few good restaurants. The design is classic 70s urban renewal, a nice harmonious collection of a hotel and some office buildings that look like books in a library. Good design.

Antique and art lovers will enjoy browsing this area's many shops and galleries.
I walked through Jackson Square area enjoying seeing the many historic buildings there. Jackson Square is located between Montgomery and Sansome Avenue. Several of the buildings are 19th century. They were built after the 1851 city fire and survived the 1906 earthquake.

I visited the Port of San Francisco during my walk from Pier 39 to the Ferry Building. Since it was the Christmas holidays, there was a nice wreath over the door as well as a large Christmas Tree. We have in the past cruised to/from Port of San Francisco on the NCL Bliss, and plan to also go to the port for our cruise on the Princess in a few weeks. Its a beautiful area.

I was fortunate enough to work on an acting gig at the new Cruise Ship Terminal at Pier 27 on The Embarcadero. Built for the America's Cup (I think) several years ago, it is now used by huge cruise ships like the Island Princess, which was there at the time I was there. The entrance is new, clean, and inviting. I am looking forward to taking a cruise from there.
