Marine Drive

Bordering the Arabian Sea, this famous road is a popular spot for watching sunsets, and is gorgeous when lit up at night.

Reviewed By Inakshisobti - Mumbai, India

A drive on Marine Drive in the evening affords great night vistas of Mumbai's skyline dotted with lights.. the walkway that adjoins the Sea makes for a pleasant walk and faces the Arabian Sea on one end and a line of Art Deco heritage buildings ( some in need of repair) on the opposite side... although a busy road, Marine Drive or the Queens necklace as it is referred to on account of its natural curve and string of pearl overhead lights is an integral icon of Mumbai.

Mumbai G.P.O

Reviewed By macedonboy - Glasgow, United Kingdom

The Mumbai G.P.O is a functioning and major post office in Mumbai that was built in the latter stages of the British Empire. Although built by a British architect, John Begg, there's no obvious European influence on the design. It is an excellent example of Indo-Islamic style of the various Islamic empires of the Indian subcontinent. The building is so good looking, it could pass for a palace. Inside, the GPO is huge for a post office and one of the reasons is the many facilities that are still conducted in this post office, banking, mail and stamped related shopping etc. The layout of the interior is quite old fashioned from a westerners point of view, but retains a lot of old world charm. It’s worth a small detour in old Mumbai to see this grand building.

Andharban

Reviewed By SatishP474 - Thane, India

We visited Andharban for a long trek. We had hired a 20 sitter bus from Mumbai. We started from Borivli at 5.30 am, on the way we used to stop to pickup some of us at different spots. Took a 30 minutes break at Lonavala and reached a trek starting point at 10.30 am. Total trek is about 16 Km. Not a very tough train. Flat for about 10 Km and then one had to get down for 6 Km. The entire journey is very scenic. Nice dense jungle for quite some distance. It's therefore pleasure walking, especially when you are in the company of friends. After traveling about half way, we waited in a small village for lunch break. We had carried good along, hence waited in a very beautiful Lord Shiva temple located by the side of Lake and had our lunch there. We all were very hungry after the hours of strainous trek. Food therefore was a great delight, an experience that can't be described in words. Had a natural stream of water by the side of temple and we used that water for drinking, no problem. It was very tasty. After food we resumed or trek and reached the end point after 2.5 hours (total trek of 5.5 hours + lunch break time). The second hand was quite tiring. It was mainly going down in the mountain. Quite tiring but enjoyable for sure. After reaching down, we felt extremely relaxed and satisfied. End point is by the side of a very beautiful dam. Very scenic spot with mountains, dam and lush green trees. A very relaxing spot. We had called our but at a nearby point. In a very delighted manner we sat in the bus and started out return journey.
