Parking on the edge of town was our preferred site so we could take in the day in Condom...lunch, walking the town and finally spending precious time in the Cloitre and then the Cathedral itself...simply finding a restful spot and let time pass slowly

Collegiate church of La Romieu, XIV century, Historical Monument and World Heritage Site by Unesco since 1998. It is situated on the way of Santiago, in the north of Gers, in Gascony. unaccompanied visits include : the cloister, the church, the frescoes of the sacristy, climbing up the octogonal tower to discover the various rooms and climbing up a part of the bells tower, a little garden. Individuals may visit unaccompanied aided by a booklet and a video (approximately 45 mn, entrance by the tourist office).
The history here is amazing and visiting is more fun than I thought it would be. The choir is beautiful, the church is gorgeous and being able to walk all around the tower was nice. The spiral staircases were the best part. The ancient frescoes were impressive and in an interesting room. Being able to walk up and see the top of the church from the inside and then the views further up was great. Be warned that the stairs are awkward and narrow, though, and they go up and up and up!
