The convent is within walking distance from the center but it's far from other attractions, so you may be tempted to skip it. Don't. It is a quiet place, with a beautiful church. Quite simple, actually, but it does provide the ambience of a religious location.

A wonderful expanse of ground is dedicated here in Chișinău to those who gave their lives during World War II. The Eternal Flame burns symbolically and the large red and pink coloured structure - resembling five 25m high rifles - stands proudly at the centre of this park. It is free admission to the Victory Memorial and very poignant with other monuments and carvings to be seen throughout.

A memorial to the Soviet soldiers from Moldavia who lost their lives in the Afghanistan War, a war that lasted 9 1/2 years. This war is also referred to as the Soviet Union's Vietnam War or the Silent Bear. The similarities between the Soviet Afghan War and America's Vietnam War are almost identical. Both Soviet Union (9 1/2 years) and the USA (8 years) lost wars that they believed they would win in only a few months; but were severely defeated. Both the Soviet Union and USA retreated and evacuated Afghanistan and Vietnam. Both wars were political. This is considered one of the leading causes of the fall of the Soviet Union.

There are multiple cafes located on Pedestrian Street. The street itself is cobblestone and the Sculpture of Lovers is located on the street. Minutes to the north are monuments and minutes to the south are multiple parks and monuments. A peaceful atmosphere and very quiet. Lovely!

The monument commemorates the 1940-1951 mass deportations in Soviet Moldavia. This was part of Joseph Stalin's policy of political repression of the potential opposition to the Soviet power. The monument is located at Central Station Square. Study the monument and you will see men, women, children, and babies, which represents the 46,000 people deported from Moldavia. Known as the "Train of Pain"
