Located on the edge of the town centre in Dame Alice Street is the row of Dame Alice Almshouses. In the past Almshouses were the first type of social housing for the poor. I am not sure if these houses are still used for this. I hope so. It is impressive to see a row of about 20 houses together. Worth looking for if you are into that sort of thing.

The statue of John Bunyan is at the end of the High Street at the junction with Dame Alice Street and it's worth checking out if you are investigating the history of Bedford and it's most famous author.
