Atmospheric backstreets paint a very different picture to first impressions of Abu Dhabi. The often slick and modern capital of the U.A.E. presents a fascinating mixture of tradition and progression. Tracing its rich history back to around 3000 B.C., Abu Dhabi maintains a more distinctly Arabian ambiance than glitzy Dubai. Taxis are a safe, reliable way to get around sites such as The Corniche Park, the White Fort, the Heritage Village, which offers glimpses into Bedouin life, and the Women's Craft Centre.

Qasr Al Watson is grandiose and a must when visiting Abu Dhabi. I don’t think I have ever seen such a majestic, luxurious, enchanting and stunning palace in my entire life!!! It is decorated with impeccable taste and rich in history. The marble covering the entire palace is superb. I will revisit again!!

While we stayed at the St Regis on the Corniche we decided to go for a walk as the weather is beautiful this time of the year. The Corniche is basically the waterfront of Abu Dhabi, it has a long stretch on the waterfront, beautifully landscaped with walk ways and bicycle lanes. A few cafes as on the walk which is so beautiful and relaxing. You can even rent scooters and return them to various pick up locations. Definitely try it out.

One of my favourite Tourism Activities in the whole UAE to take visiting Family & Friends. Our guide Hassan was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the Birds & Educated us on them through great humour and storytelling. Watching a live procedure as well as feeding the birds was a highlight.

We stayed at the Al Raha Beach Hotel which is next to the Al Raha Mall and the Aldar HQ Building is next to the mall. This building is under 15 mins from the airport. The view of this unusual shaped building is very interesting. I believe it is a office accomodation building and is not accessable to enter.

A visit to the observation deck of the Etihad towers was part of our tour from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and it was wonderful to see the sight of this cool city from up above. There was no line to get up the elevator and we had plenty of time to enjoy the view.

Wahat Al Karama - honor the Emirati heroes who sacrificed their lives in the service of their country. The memorial itself: The centerpiece of Wahat Al karama, made by “Idris Khan” British artist. The visitor center: consists of four different galleries, each holding a different activity. Wahat Al Karama is open to the public daily from 9am to 10pm and it is free of charge.
Love that Wahat Al Karama is not visited by many. Love the tranquility of the place, especially, the use of several water effects--pool, whirlpool, stream--from end to end of the place. The semi-indoor area where the names of UAE heroes are featured is beautifully designed, one that gives honor/special attention to the names of the heroes. The area where an amphitheater with a shallow pool/film of water is located is the best place to take a picture of the facade of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, especially in the afternoon--the effect is that the film of water is the foreground while the Mosque is at the midground.
