Had an awesome time with Andres in both our day and night tours. We saw a quetzal within 5 minutes of arriving at Selvatura preserve, and the tour only got better from there. The night tour was a fun jaunt as well, and by the end of it I gained a huge appreciation for the biodiversity of the cloud forest. Highly recommend.

All this Experience, allow us to create, in the far 1994, the very first Adventure Trek in the Osa, The Corcovado Ring Adventure Trek, that still remain the best of this Kind, where the River, Mangrove and Sea Kayaking were fundamental. Wild Trails Adventures in the last year we started creating several New and Exclusive Kayak Treks Experiences here around, along Rivers and Lagoons that nobody Ever used for this kind of Activities. We offer more than just chocolate, Firstly, the chocolate tour begins with the cultural and biological background of cacao in Costa Rica. It further introduces into the collecting, fermenting, grinding and finally the making of chocolate, the drink of the gods. Secondly, we talk about coffee and its importance for Costa Rica's economic and cultural development. We have a showroom with important coffee picking instruments and a better explanation of the process of coffee production. We want to show you how to make Café-Chorreado, the real Costa Rican practice of preparing coffee. Amongst other sampling methods. Finally, we want to look at one of the most important aspects of Costarican culture and tradition, the trapiche: A sugar cane mill run through two beautiful oxen (Fast & Furious). Here we grind sugar cane to extract the juice and make all kinds of local and delicious candy. This is for sure the sweetest tour in the area.

This 2:1 Tour is the only one in the country that combines a birdwatching tour with a jungle tour. Birding at dusk is great because that's when birds are going back to their nests to end their day. At El Bosque, the grounds are beautiful and the location is great for birding, especially on the gardens where the forest is younger and lower. Then it gets dark and other creatures come out on the trails of the property where the forest is more dense... And with a guide and a flashlight, the jungle adventure begins... Tour groups are small so you will see more and learn more, and with your tour guide and his spotting scope you will be taking some amazing pictures to bring back home. And when you finish the tour, you can ask for a map to come back the next morning to do more birding on your own and/or to explore the beautiful trail system at NO ADDITIONAL COST.

Inclusions: Flashlights, Free entrance to hike some more on your own the next day (until 4 pm), Entrance Fee is also included, All Fees and Taxes

Exclusions: Transportation is not included. Parking lots are available.

We really enjoyed the El Bosque Nature Night Tour (we did not stay at the hotel), which helped us to appreciate the jungle in a different time and way. The tour is offered at 5:30 pm and 7:45 pm, and we recommend the early one because then you have the opportunity to see the area in daylight, dusk, and dark. In the daylight, we saw agouti (large rodent) and many birds. After dark, we saw many varieties of insects, nesting birds, and a possum in a tree. The sounds of the jungle were interesting too. Our guide did a good job of spotting things and explaining them to us, and we were fortunate to have a small group of only 3 people. I especially enjoyed watching the fascinating leafcutter ants and seeing a huge mound – the guide told us all about them. They provide a flashlight, but I recommend taking a spare if you have one as the provided one started to run low on battery power toward the end of the 2-hour journey. Also bring binoculars if you have some. We had no insect problems, but we wore long sleeves, long pants and closed-toe shoes to be on the safe side. Transport was provided from our hotel in Santa Elena, and the ride up to Monteverde was scenic. If you are a fan of nature (and if you're not, the Monteverde/Santa Elena area may not be the best choice for you), definitely enjoy a night jungle tour!

We will take you to this rainforest and start hiking and looking for exiting species of animals while the jungle takes on a totally different character. It goes from a green cathedral-like forest, where beautiful shining blue morpho butterflies fly along small rivers, to a pitch-black jungle, filled with the sounds of millions of insects and dozens of frogs & toads. It’s the best time to find, observe and photograph beautiful tree frogs, shy snakes, colorful insects, mammals and other rainforest creatures that only come out at night.

He left no leaf unturned literally. Mauro is extremely educated and gifted in spotting birds and other animals. He knows German, French, English and Spanish. He traveled with us to Monteverde and La Fortuna and showed us so many birds and animals enroute. For the 5 days we had with him, we saw over 300 birds and many mammals as well. Can't say enough good about him. He is energetic and dramatic and well prepared. He knows the page of every bird in the Birds of Costa Rica book. In addition, he took wonderful pictures.
