All aboard for the STARLIGHT EXPRESS! Experience the thrill of the fastest-moving musical of the universe and the captivating story of Rusty, the young steam engine, and his love for Pearl. For 32 years now, the STARLIGHT EXPRESS has been racing its way through the theatre built especially for it in Bochum. In that time, the STARLIGHT EXPRESS has played host 15 million spectators in the heart of the Ruhr district. Reason enough for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records!
My wife and I have seen this German version 3 times over the last few years and its as fresh and entertaining as the first time. I have seen Starlight Express also in English in Las Vegas and I think the German version has the edge, mainly because this production is purpose built and it really adds to the adrenalin rush of the show. I have always gone for the swivel seats that are located within the show arena, this means the action is literally going on all around you and you are sitting in the middle of it all, the Bochum show is performed entirely in German, but even if you don't understand German it is still a brilliant production and hugely enjoyable it does not diminish the enjoyment in any shape or form, some shows which are converted from English to another language suffer for it, not so here. This is still the best show I've seen so far and I'm comparing it to big shows I've seen in the West End of London and big budget shows in Las Vegas, there is something just that little bit better about this slick production that makes it stand out from the others. Totally recommend it for all people of all ages.
