Westhaven State Park

Reviewed By SillyAndie - Coulee Dam, United States

The trails and beach are great. Lots of shells and flat sand, which is perfect for building anything. Walk along the trails or the jetty for some wonderful views of waves, surfers, birds, mammals, and more. Bring a kite if you like! Parking lot is really good, along with grass parking once it fills up. Discover pass required for all parking. Slightly difficult to walk to the beach as the sand isn't always super compact or the rocks sometimes shift under foot. On the right side of the jetty, the wind is calmer. Be sure to watch for birds that feed close to the start of the jetty on the right side. Also a great spot to go diving for crab. Make sure you have a crab permit though!

Twin Harbors Beach State Park

Reviewed By Bugqueen - Burnaby, Canada

We booked one of the cabins and it was clean and sound proof. The heater worked great it was very well insulated. The rangers were great and helpful for off season. The park's beach trails take off through tunnels of shore pines and soon transition to sand dunes and dune grass. The driftwood-scattered beach is perfect for long walks, which we did. Twin Harbors State Park is a 225-acre camping park on the Pacific Coast, 4 miles south of Westport. The area offers nature study and seaside activities along the shore, as well as the chance to relax.  Being winter the campground did not have many campers but the washrooms/showers are open to the public which caused a lot of transient foot traffic. There was people constantly using the showers which at some points felt very unsafe when having to walk to the washroom. You definitely have to lock everything up! One night we noticed a couple strange vehicles at the washroom for a very long time and as we were getting ready for bed a women started hammering on the door wanting is to let her in yelling someone over dosed in the shower. We told her we would call 911 for her and did not open the door. Then they got in thier vehicle and peeled away. No one was in the shower....long story short you always have to watch out for yourself...dont put yourself in danger! The cops showed up very quickly and seemed to know who they were.
