It's a pet shop in the front and an animal sanctuary at the back. The staff were knowledgeable and super friendly, but never obtrusive. We were allowed to explore and look at the animals at our own pace, and we took our time because there were just so many exotic pets that were given up that it felt more comprehensive than some zoos we had been in. The sanctuary section is meant to be educational; some animals do not make for good pets, and this place is doing its best with limited resources to provide as comfortable a home for the abandoned creatures as possible. They must be doing a great job because during feeding time, you could see how there was trust between handlers and animals and no one was in danger of being attacked. Snakes, spiders, frogs, lemurs, alligators, crocodiles, geckos, lizards, birds and other small mammals, they were just amazing to see and we spent a good two hours discovering more about them. This place is well worth the admission price; just make sure you don't knock on the glass and disturb the animals!
