We are hands-on and love helping visitors learn not only at our touch tank, but on our Nautical Classroom, Geologic Discovery Center, and our many teaching games. A great little aquarium with a big mission!

We visited the aquarium with our one year old daughter and her friend and had a great time! Appointments are required right now because of COVID so it was just us in the aquarium and we got a wonderful private tour! They have fish, turtles, crabs, an eel and more plus a touch tank with horseshoe crabs, clams, squid, etc. The aquarium is brilliantly laid out in order from fresh water to salt water so you can learn about what you can find in your own backyard as well as the Chesapeake. The adults learned a lot too! They also have a sandbox and huge outdoor play area. Highly recommend especially right now with so much closed due to COVID.

This is not a walk in the park. :). this trail is fin, and challenging in areas. Grab a map, your hiking boots, gloves, and water and enjoy a great day with friends and family. Should have stability and stamina to hike this trail.

Out of Towners might not realize this Nature Center is tucked in behind the Glenview Mansion grounds. The "mini zoo" and displays are in a relaxing setting and are an excellent way for natives and weary tourist to unwind.

This rec trail meanders through a valley along Sligo Creek in Silver Spring area. It is loaded with thick, tall trees so makes a great place to walk on a hot day. Watch for fast cyclists!

Being such a spectacular view, it obviously attracts many people. Far better than the Virginia side in my opinion, it is best seen at crack of dawn or sunset. Frigid temps keep crowds away, as do inclement mornings, but those are precisely when the river and overlook is most dramatic!
