Kaunakakai is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaiʻi, United States. It is the largest town on the island of Molokaʻi. The population was 3,425 at the 2010 census. It has the largest port on the island and the longest pier in Hawaii. The town was made famous in the 1930s by the song "The Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai", beginning an ongoing tradition of designating an honorary mayor for the town.

Molokai Bicycle

The island's only bike shop was established in 1994. Molokai Bicycle is run by Phillip Kikukawa who was born and raised on the Friendly Island. Phillip also works at Molokai Middle School but give him a call at the shop number and he will meet you any afternoon or early morning. He can also have bikes waiting at the shop, airport or ferry with combination locks if unable to be there in person. He has inside information on road rides, mountain biking, hiking, camping, yoga and other activities for the enthusiastic visitor. The shop offers bike sales, repairs, parts, accessories, personal stroage space and very competitive rental rates. All bikes are professionally maintained to assure satisfaction. I recommend going at high tide for the snorkeling, as the corals are in really shallow water. Nice scenic spot for a dip, or picnic. You can see Lanai and Maui from here
