I arrived in Golden early March 2020. I brought my own sled and wanted to ride. I was able to join a small group for two days guided by Sean. Very professional and well ran company. Sean was very clear on what was safe to ride and not safe to ride. It was great to have some guidance as I was new to the area. I hope to ride with them again.

Nestled in the Columbia River Valley between the spectacular Rocky and Purcell Mountain ranges lies the Columbia Wetlands Outpost. Many of us call the Columbia Wetlands a living natural treasure because of it’s role as an essential eco-system, home to hundreds of animal species. What we also know is that the mighty Columbia River slows as it winds through the wetlands, setting the pace for us and all who seek respite here. Guests at the Columbia Wetlands Outpost have an opportunity to experience a magical adventure, a chance to pause and soak in something that is eye-wateringly beautiful, exciting yet profound. Whether you prefer to explore endless tributaries, at your own pace, in a canoe/kayak/SUP or simply float gently down the Columbia on a guided catacraft tour is your choice. Stay with us for several days to experience even more of our beautiful surroundings at the luxurious Columbia Wetlands Outpost Lodge, or unique Columbia Wetlands Outpost Tepee and Timber tents.

Welcome to the Golden Nordic Ski Club (GNSC)! We hope you will enjoy the ski season and invite you to share your stories and pictures of cross country skiing and snowshoeing at Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre and at the Golden Golf Course trails. Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre (adjacent to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, 13 km outside of Golden) offers 33 km of groomed classic and skate skiing trails for all levels of ability. Dawn Mountain was the selected site for the National Masters Championships for 2010, hosting skiers from across the country. With over 500 members last season, the club has seen a steady growth in membership and in day users. The Golden Golf Course ski trails are closer to town (about a 6 km drive) and these easier trails are strictly track set for classic skiing.
I was up at kicking horse and went for a walk. Found Mt Dawn and the Nordic Ski club quite by accident. Went inside the lodge area and met super friendly and helpful people. I ended up hiring some snow shoes for around $20 with poles. I then embarked on a stunning trail walk in the snow. Went around the frozen lake and then up on the longer track on the ridge. Scenery was amazing as was the peacefulness and serenity. Had a lovely time doing something I had never done before
