Our lodge lies a short while outside of Alta city centre, surrounded by pristine Arctic nature. A team of huskies will take you out in pairs, as mushers or passengers, riding through the snowy forest and on the ice that covers the famous Alta River. There’s no better way of getting close to nature than this. While the huskies love to run in frigid temperatures, we’ll equip you with a thermal suit to keep the cold at bay. But don’t fear the winter – bask in its beauty. The frozen landscape is like nothing you’ll ever see, glittering in the sunlight and bathed in shades of blue, pink and purple during the light of the polar night. Welcome to Holmen Husky Lodge.

he red King Crab is not only the biggest, but also the most delicious shellfish you will ever have the chance of tasting. On this exclusive king crab fishing excursion in Kirkenes, we will take you out on the fjord to find the great beast and you will see how we catch, prepare and cook it. Depending on the season, we'll drive either by snowmobile and sled out on the fjord ice or by RIB boat on the Varangerfjord where you can help pull up the crab pods. The journey will culminate in a warm farmhouse restaurant by the fjord where we'll serve the crab the northern Norwegian way – fresh, steamed and irresistible! All our tours include warm outfits, mittens, balaklava and shoes.

We do serve local food in our Viking long house or in our Sami lavvu. During the fall season you can come along on our wagon tour with our huskies and from late November, early December to mid April we go on sled tours with our dogs. With our dog sledding tours we are truly "exclusive" with a maximum of 8 guests on all our tours - often described as the highlight of our guests holiday to the north! In addtion to dog sledding we do bird watching tours, ice fishing, and can offer snowmobile tours with our partner. In winter time you are welcome to rent both cross country skis and snow shoes to do some exploring on your own. Welcome to the arctic!

After some instructions and getting the list of names for your dog team, you are responsible for getting the team ready for your tour. We'll go across the Beskades plain to Soulovoupmi Lodge where we make a short break and enjoy a hot meal before returning to Gargia. All you need is a regular driving licence, a thorough safety introduction and driving instruction will be given before we start.

Outdoor activities in fantastic nature, with great view over the Altafjord and mountains surrounding the area. In summertime we have hiking tracks and a exciting top tree climbingpark with 10 zip lines, including our 207 meters Speedy zipline. In wintertime you can enjoy the view over Altafjorden in the fantastic slopes at our ski sentre. Here you can enjoy snowboarding or skiing under the northern light. We offer five downhill pistes and snow park with jumps and rails. Cross country tracks are surrounding the centre. Our cozy cafeteria offers homemade dishes and snack in a nice warm atmosphere. Equipment are available for rent.
