Located in the heart the most important wetland of Portugal, the Tagus Estuary Natural Reserve, EVOA – Tagus Estuary Birdwatching and Conservation Area, allows the visitors to know and enjoy the unique heritage that we have between the Lezira and the Tagus Estuary. Everyday birdwatching guided visits, Private Guided visits and Photographic Tours.
We visited the Evoa bird refuge in October and saw thousands of birds. In two hours we saw 39 different species, mostly water fowl but also raptors, owls, and others. We had a personal guide, transportation from Lisbon and a light lunch included in the ticket price. It was a great deal and a super experience for birders. Highly recommended.

We can only feel happyness with such grandiosity. This valley gives it's visitors an immense feeling of accomplishment. For the ultimate experience, climb the mountain until Torre and the descend using the same route. Start at 6am, and see the sun rise at the gorge between the two mountains. Have a break at "Covão da Areia", climb further to Torre to lunch. Take a small break and initiate your descent at 4 pm. Make a second break at "covão da Areia" and storm the last 6 km descent while seeing the sun going down in the horizon. The mountains will glow red. In the end, take a swim in the fluvial beach and have dinner in the town. The nature at her best. P.S. You have to be fit to face the climbing.

Directly across from Estrela Basilica is Jardim da Estrela. We stumbled upon it when visiting the (awesome) Basilica. This is the most lovely urban park, covering a large area and full of paved walkways, lush trees and plants, a pond with swimming ducks and geese, and a large children’s playground. There are also public washrooms. We found the park simply charming and really enjoyed a leisurely stroll here, taking a break from walking Lisbon’s streets and hills. The park and Basilica are at a Tram 28 stop near the end of the line. It is well worth getting off the tram to explore both.
