Please choose the style of guestroom that you like from our western/ Japanese style rooms. From any of our rooms, on sunny days, you can enjoy the view of Mt. Fuji and lake Kawaguchiko. (Prices change depending on room)From the sky bar overlooking Lake Kawaguchiko , you can see the lights of the people who are climbing Mt. Fuji at night without clouds. “moon dance”is open for business in warm season.
My biggest regret was not booking more than 1 night. We was lucky enjough to arrive when the clouds were clearing and we ere treated to a 2 hour uninterrupted and sunny view of Mount Fuji. The view from our balcony was delightful and the onsen was quiet, clean and very relaxing. The food was superb throughout, the traditional Japanese dinner was one of the best meals we enjoyed and the westernised breakfast was delightful (and great for those that find some of the Japanese breakfast options a little challenging so early in the morning). We loved the lounge area, the fun and colourful object d'art, paintings and photographs displayed with the vast array of art and design books on offer along with the complimentary coffee. This place definately warrants a 2 night stay, not just for the hotel, but to sample the many things this area has available in general. Only complaint was the roof top bar service was a little on the cool (chilly) side, however the rest of the staff were warm and welcoming and professional. Would love to come back here! Don't hesitate booking....there are good reasons for the excellent reviews - this place is an absolute joy to stay in!

Great restaurant. Lovely staff. I haven't been on here for a few years and reset my password just to review. :) I am a Plat so we got a little extra, but what a great little hotel. Refreshed 2 years ago and still has that new car smell. Highly recommend and I am a picky picky pick pick.

I stayed here with family specially with the intention of seeing mt. fuji- we drove by car from Tokyo to here and there’s a rather steep path up to the hotel... the check in experience was incredible, we had a host who sat with us and went through everything there was to offer at hotel including the incredible 5 course meal that was included in our stay, this menu differed slightly on each day of our trip so we didn’t get the same thing every night either - the restaurant is superb. The rooms are super clean, spacious and have the most incredible view!! (See the pictures) - our room included a tub with views out to Mount Fuji - I’ll be honest I got in there every morning because of the view. We had nothing but a positive experience at the hotel, the staff all spoke amazing English and could not have done more to help us! there’s a little shop where you can purchase souvenirs too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay around this area, and if I come back I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thank you, you made my first visit to Mount Fuji unforgettable.

My family and I had two rooms booked for the first weekend of July 2022. I made the booking through another website, Agoda.com, so this review only reflects on them and the hotel. I made this reservation in February under the assumption travel to Japan would be allowed. I asked for a refund when it became clear it wouldn't be, and I also contacted the hotel as recommended by Agoda. The hotel was completely unwilling to listen to my concerns and told me they would only talk to the website. Agoda was unsuccessful in getting a refund after trying several times. If you want to encourage tourism, it's probably not a good idea to steal potential travelers' money. I even asked if I could postpone, put the rooms on consignment, try to resell them myself, etc, to no avail. Pretty heartless treatment given the circumstance. I can't imagine I would stay at a hotel that treats its customers this way now.

We stayed with the family two days in this nice hotel, that is centrally located in Nagano. The rooms are modern and clean. The onsen is great. One outside, one inside, a cold bath and a sauna. Between 21:30-23:00 you get a complementary ramen soup in the restaurant. We arrived in the weekend, and than it is not possible to reach the hotel by car. We had to walk with our luggage 5 minutes. Minus: no English speaking staff or English information. We had a lost in translation situation.

Clean and well maintained on the inside, the hotel itself is feeling dated. But how can you care about that when you have such how a magnificent view out the window. We threw open the curtains and just stayed warm in the winter, just staring at the view. The Onsen was also a lovely way to spend some time in winter.

For those of you driving along the Shinetsu highway you cannot miss Royal Hotel Nagano, located in an old castle town close to the Matsushiro castle ruins. This area is rich in history and local legends.Royal Hotel Nagano is a nice and spacious hotel boasting 35 square metre rooms, with free Wi-Fi and an open air hot spring! Nagano station is a 20 minute car drive away, Zenkouji Temple 30 minutes and Nagano's famous Matsumoto castle an hour trip; these make for a perfect day trip for those travelling by car! Matsushiro town also has many tourist spots, so for those who don't have access to personal transport there are plenty of places that can be reached on foot.
The official name of the hotel is Daiwa Royal Hotel Nagano. A very large hotel with good sized rooms. Large banquet rooms for large groups. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast with a good selection of Japanese and Western food. The French Toast was very popular. The Chinese food we had for dinner was better than average. The hotel is clean and the view was great from the room. But the location is a little out of the way from everything. Near the highway so it would be convenient for travelers passing through. There was a shop and cafe but no convenience store.

We were looking for a reasonably priced hotel near Mt Fuji and this fit the bill quite nicely. The rooms were spacious, the food was really good (we did dinner and breakfast) and the location is perfect for viewing and touring all of the spots to see and photograph Mt Fuji.

Exceptional, majestic, magnificent...all words I would use to attempt to describe Akakan. But mere superlatives are insufficient. This is the best hotel in which we have stayed. With history dating back to the 1930s, the main building has been kept meticulously over the years as to somehow evoke that romantic past, but also not to feel dated or aged. The newer Premium/Spa and Suite wings are worthy, luxurious additions that adds lots of options. Rooms: We tried two rooms: Deluxe twin with bathtub and Premium (P3) with private outdoor onsen, each for three nights. The hotel is not cheap...this combination ran a little more than JPY400k total for two people, mid-January, breakfast but no dinner (would love to know how others have booked at 50k/night with half board!). But even at these rates you are getting your yen’s worth. The deluxe twin, located in the main building just off the reception area, was a great room, spacious and luxuriously refurbished, and with a direct view of the slopes. The bathtub enjoys its own small room and even a separate air-conditioning system. That said, I’d probably recommend either saving a bit with a slightly lower category room, or going up to the private onsen room (located in the more modern Spa and Suite wing). This is because the public open air onsen in the hotel is among the best I’ve ever seen across a wide variety of Honshu and Hokkaido resorts and Ryokan, and the only way you’ll probably want to skip it is if you’ve got one of your own. Hopefully the pictures speak for themselves but that room is even larger (and these rooms are huge in terms relative to other Japanese ski resorts), and just of the highest quality all around. Loved the electronic fireplace, heated bathroom floors, convenient shower cubicle, and, of course, the generously sized, temperature-adjustable onsen. Skiing: Akakura Kanko boasts a fantastic location right in the middle of its synonymous ski area, allowing you to hop on the freshly groomed slopes before anyone else in the area. First lifts ran around 8.30, so you can take a lovely, untracked run down from the locker area around 8.20 and expect no to minimal queue. Lift tickets for the Akakan side run a reasonable JPY3,000/day if you buy at the hotel, and 5,800 if you include the connecting Akakura Onsen side, which in our experience was less crowded and a good shout for at least a couple of days. Restaurants: Can’t go wrong with either the buffet breakfast or the slightly more formal, table service option in the Premium wing at Aqua, which is a nice change of pace for more relaxed days. Since we were not on half board, we only ate dinner twice at the hotel, once at French and the other at Aqua. Course meals run somewhere close to 10k per person. Quantity isn’t huge but quality is high, and the meat (beef, venison, lamb) entrees were particularly nice. The bar near Aqua is beautiful, offers thoughtfully-crafted cocktails with a nice happy hour, and in our experience wasn’t crowded. Still, you might want to venture out to Akakura Onsen town using the shuttle (~10 minutes, last one leaves at 6 or 6.15) some nights, though you’ve got to sort out your own return (and taxis were not readily available in our experience...recommend booking ahead!). If you’ve got a car you can park right outside the hotel, which gives you a ton of optionality. On the whole, Akakan is the top option in Myoko, and surely one of the best in Japan. And even though Akakura onsen town appears to be taking on a bit more of a foreigner-oriented feeling these days (verging on Niseko et al...), Akakan retains its own entirely unique aura.

The city of Myoko is located just 2 hours from Tokyo by bullet train, as well as Niigata Airport by car. Lotte Arai Resort lies with scenic lands including a mountain range that starts with Mt. Myoko and extends all the way to the Sea of Japan, and rice fields that stretch as far as the eye can see. Within the abundance of nature surrounding Lotte Arai Resort, adults and children alike will be able to enjoy both Japan's longest zip line and the Tree Adventure courses. In the pure white of the winter season, you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding on slopes that boast the highest snowfall amount and some of the finest powder in all of Japan. Our guest rooms are as comfortable and calm as mountain villas, yet boast hospitality of the highest quality. Rounding it all out is the local foods, sake, and culture that you'll experience nowhere else.
We were clearly disappointed. It is understaffed or badly organized, or both. I think they are not ready to cop with covid properly and should better stay closed rather than disappointing their customers. Worst point : Waiting time for check in and to access restaurants was very long. One day, even after getting a table (which took 20 mn), we had to wait almost 50 mn to get our breakfast....Food was globally ok but disappointing for the price. We were supposed to get sun protection in our package ... They said they will bring it to our room ... it never came ... We had to claim it the day after. We were supposed to get a 1000 yen coupon because we did not request room cleaning the first day... We never received it ...Globally a lot of employees seem to be “lost”, hesitant, not knowing precisely what to do... Those are not big issues but when it comes with the other issues it becomes annoying for a resort of this standing.. When we did the check out, they forgot mini bar consumption ...So I told them to add it on the bill... and I mentioned that I did not receive the 1000 yens coupon.... They then asked to wait for them to check if it was “true” !!! (me not receiving the coupon...). We went through so much waiting during our stay, especially at restaurants....plus the lack of trust, this behavior was really humiliating and not acceptable (fyi my bill was 180 000 yens ... we are not cheating for 1000 yens especially after voluntarily asking them to add mini bar on the bill)... I couldn't hide my great dissatisfaction. The person at the front desk finally understood that their approach was probably not the right one and addressed the bill issue positively and offered us some cookies...But what an effort to be heard ...... In short, this hotel certainly has good points (beautiful site, beautiful room, pleasant swimming pool) but the service and the current organization are not at all up to the task. Several visitors have visibly observed the same thing as me.
