10 Nightlife in Zealand That You Shouldn't Miss

April 18, 2022 Concepcion Newsome

Denmark's largest island is so much more than simply the home of the country's dynamic capital, Copenhagen. Zealand also offers a delightful array of holiday homes and villas, pleasing harbors and sandy beaches, fringed by forests where castles lurk. Major destinations include the UNESCO-designated, Dutch Renaissance-style Kronborg Castle in Helsingor and the Viking attractions, cathedral and music festival of Roskilde. To the south bobs a flotilla of beautiful and relatively untouched islands.

SANDEMANs NEW Europe - Copenhagen

For hundreds of years the Danes were an unstoppable force of warriors, explorers and settlers – uniting Scandinavia, discovering America and bringing terror to the shores of Europe. Today Copenhagen’s history of fire and bloody battles lies hidden behind picturesque streets and colorful harbors. As the days of conquest passed, Danish power was replaced with a rich cultural legacy of writers, artists and philosophers. The fairy tale feel of the city where Hans Christian Andersen wrote is the home of incredible stories and unbelievably true histories: Viking adventurers, pirate-hunting Bishop Absalon, daring Danish WWII resistance fighters and more. Our local expert guides will take you on a 3 hour walking tour through 6000 years of Copenhagen’s history and you’ll find out why the Danes are some of the happiest people in the world!

Den gamle kobmandsgaard

The Old Grocery/ LF wine and brew in Gedser is a house with brewery/winery, cafe, B&B and a health clinic with a masseur and a podiatrist. In the cafe you can taste beer and wine made at the spot, and enjoy a meal as well. There are always homemade cake and icecream to enjoy in the garden. The store holds a lot of lokal products to take home with you. Nearby is the wineyard with tours several times per week, ending up in the cafe for tasting and maybe a walk round the house. Flemming and Lea Lind runs the wineyard and the old Grocery, and are passionate about brewing tasty beer and making good danish whitewine. The B&B holds 4 rooms and a schack for rent. It is placed next to the harbour with the ferry to Rostock. In the covered terrace there are often music and cultural events and a nice atmosphere with wine hanging from the roof. A short walk from the old grocery is the marina and a nice beach and a small forrest for walking. Welcome to the old grocery.

Aloë is the go-to bar for my friends and I. If you love great cocktails, great fun and a fantastic atmosphere, aloë is the place for you. Definitely a unique bar in Copenhagen. There’s nowhere like this! The prices are super reasonable for the very high quality of both cocktails and service. The bartenders are super friendly, and are, as well as the bar itself, the best in Copenhagen. Absolute must-have cocktails are the bramble and the cocolada. I can only recommend going here????????

Peders

peders is a cosy beer bar in the historic latin quarter of Copenhagen. No smoking or loud music but conversation, intimacy and good old fashion danish "hygge".. Enjoy the atmosphere in the charming house, rebuilt in 1796 after the devastating city fire in 1795. We focus on danish micro breweries but do also have a wide range of beers from the best international craft breweries. For those who do not drink beer - we do have an alternative in wine, sodas and simple long drinks.

The National Gallery is one of the strong art institutions in Copenhagen. The collection spans many centuries with a whole wing dedicated to 20c Danish Art (Hilbershom and the like), and another to modern "french" art with some excellent Matisse, Braque and Picassos. There is a nice modern addition to the already expansive older front. It is very nicely laid out and engaging, even to the point of providing a room for sketching and drawing. Some of the audios were very interesting. Temporary exhibition was educational. Cafeteria is beautiful and yummy. Danish modern design permeates throughout
