Conquering New York in one visit is impossible. Instead, hit the must-sees – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s libraries. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer.

This is a great jazz club - a national treasure - near the Theatre District in Manhatten, NYC. The space is great - probably not a bad seat in the house and the sound is fantastic. Definitely a great place to go for music aficionados.

Step back in time at this 19th-century tavern located in midtown.
A large group of us spent the day visiting the Intrepid. Different groups of us ended up walking the neighborhood looking for something to eat. We ALL ended up at the Landmark without reservations on a Saturday afternoon. They were very accommodating. The food, the service and the decor of this Landmark Tavern of 150 years old was a great find. The owner was on premise and he was very hospitable. There is something for almost everyone on the menu. It was a great find and we’d definitely return when in the area.

Dizzy's Club is the perfect place to kick back, relax, and hear some of the greatest jazz ever made. Jazz at Lincoln Center's intimate jazz club and restaurant features a stunning view of Manhattan and some of the best sophisticated soul food this side of New Orleans. With multiple sets nightly, group menu options, and student discounts, there's sure to be something for everyone.
I love jazz; imagine my excitement when I found out that Jazz at Lincoln Centre was a mere 10 minute walk from my hotel. The only issue was how to get tickets! There is a box office, however, you cannot purchase tickets there - you must reserve a spot at Dizzy’s Club by phone or in person. You are required to pay a cover charge of $35 and consume a minimum of $10 food and drink when you are there, all payable at the venue. There are two shows a night 7:30 and 9:30; you must be in line to enter at least 15 minutes in advance of the show to ensure entry. It is well worth it - the food and service were good, the music out-of-this-world! The jazz programs from Juilliard were performing the night I attended and they were excellent, the future of jazz. If you love music and jazz, Dizzy’s is highly recommended.

Stopped by for a nightcap on the way back to our digs after dinner and ended up staying a few hours. Had so much fund watching the barmen strut around the bar and also got caught up in the liquor pour. Locals all seemed very friendly - and tolerant of four out of towners taking over the jukebox for the evening. Just a real light hearted and fun bar - very reasonably priced too.

Little cozy pub in Hell's Kitchen in NYC, very close to Times Square. Very busy, but with an extra garden area with more seating and heating. Beer and hot dog for 3 dollars! Suuuuper recommended!
