10 Nightlife in Cornwall That You Shouldn't Miss

November 25, 2021 Matilde Konrad

Cornwall is the extreme southwestern peninsula of England. It has the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain and it is one of the sunniest areas in the UK. With picturesque villages, Celtic ruins, light blue waters, gardens and parks and unique architecture it certainly is among the most scenic areas of England. Home of many events and festivals and the land of Cornish pasty, it is definitely worth visiting.

The Blue Anchor

Reviewed By Andythebaggie - Birmingham, United Kingdom

This 15th century pub with its historic fittings and thatched roof played a huge part in keeping proper ale going during the dark days of the 60's & 70's. So it was great to finally get here and enjoy a couple of the home brewed Spingo Ales. The bar is on the right side of the corridor when you enter whilst there are 2 separate rooms on the left side. Plenty of locals enjoying the beers during my visit, I shall definitely be returning, hopefully for a proper session.

This was my fave traditional pub in Falmouth. Situated on the front (as the name says!) and under the excellent harbour lights restaurant. There's a long bar with a fine range of cask ales on the many hand pulls, many from local brewers. Plenty for the cider drinker too. Beer quality was good and it's a pleasing place to quench your thirst.

I would highly recommend this bar if you love quirky and classic cocktails. My experience was brilliant! The bartender asked what type of flavours we enjoyed and used their menu to adapt and make a drink suited perfectly for us! Will definitely be back when we’re next travelling to Newquay.

The Barrel

Had an amazing night in the secret room at The Barrel. It was a surprise birthday treat which started off with the whole pub singing Happy Birthday and then being whisked off to our own special little space, cleverly decorated to give the illusion of...no better not say, in case it spoils it for any one else! But impressive to say the least. The local craft gin tasting experience had been pre-booked and our excellent host expertly advised us on tonic pairings and kept us regularly topped up with fresh ice. The whole evening was fantastic and can thoroughly recommend booking the secret room for a special occasion or just because!

Lizard Lighthouse Heritage Centre

With the help of a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Trinity House renovated the Engine Room at Lizard Lighthouse, retaining some of the old engines. It now also features new exhibition material, an audio visual room and a number of interactive displays. The Lizard Lighthouse Heritage Centre was officially opened in 2009 by HRH The Princess Royal. The distinctive twin towers of Lizard Lighthouse mark the most southerly point of mainland Britain. See displays depicting Trinity House's history, housed in the original engine room. It was commissioned in 1752. For over 250 years, the lighthouse has provided a welcoming landfall light to vessels crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Tours of Lizard Lighthouse are organised under licence from the Corporation of Trinity House.

We decided to visit the lizard lighthouse and what a fantastic day out it was. The exhibition hall was great with plenty to do and to read. And plenty of games and fun for children. We done the guided tour of the lighthouse tower with Caroline who has been a lighthouse keeper at the station since 2007 she could answer any questions I had and more everything about the tour was in-depth and well explained. Definitely worth a visit. Cheap day out and loads to do.
