Zinco Jazz Club

Reviewed By dough0529

I had an excellent time on a Thursday night at Zinco. I had made a reservation, which put me into a slightly shorter and faster line to get in. This is like a Hollywood movie set of a jazz club, but that is just great. Literally subterranean and dark. The band that night played old black U.S. blues like BB King, Ray Charles, they sang in English and quite well. Actually the band knocked me out. Food: I went there partly because I knew they served rib. With a bottle of red wine they were really good. Finally, half-crocked, I walked the three blocks back to my hotel at about midnight. If there were any danger I'm sure I would have run into, since I look like an easy target at 68 years old with a walking stick!! Perfectly safe, cops everywhere (2 per block), a lively night out. I'M LYING ABOUT THE DATE ON THIS REVIEW. THE TRIP WAS IN FEB. 2019 BUT I COULDN'T GO THIS YEAR, SO I AM FONDLY REMEMBERING. FORGIVE ME.

Museo del Tequila y el Mezcal

Reviewed By clintr772

My tour of the museum was really fun and educational. I learned how to tell the difference between different types of tequila, and how those differ from mescal. Best of all, you get a historical introduction into the relationship between mescal and mariachi. You see how the drink influenced key groups and even popular singers and actors. Now for the drink tour. 290 pesos for four shots and two cocktails can’t be beat. Even better, my guide sat and drank with me! He explained how to appreciate each type, and why lime is only used as a palate cleanser, never as an additive. I am sitting on their upstairs patio soaking up the experience and listening to the mariachi downstairs, which is a sanctioned place for these groups in the city.

Wonderful! We happened upon Pata Negra after a tour near Zocalo. What a find! Great food (we had calamari, salad, pizza and a tortilla). All were excellent. Very pleasant ambiance and service. I would give it a ten out of ten.
