On this tour, we'll show you the lifestyle of real Japanese gay guys, and you'll see the nightlife through the eyes of the locals who love this area. For Japanese gay men, the gay bars here are the places we can be the most open; our hidden home away from home. The rule of Japanese gay bars is, the smaller, the more hidden, the better, so as to protect our gay community. One of the main reasons for that is, most gay people in Japan haven't come out. Because of that, there are only two ways to enter a local Japanese gay bar. Either you must be taken there by your gay Japanese friend, or, you must speak Japanese. Gay bars which turn away visitors who don't speak Japanese, and bars which only accept guests introduced by a regular, are common here. But together, we can take you to the hottest spots in the Japanese gay scene. These can be places we've been visiting for years, or ones we've gotten into lately. When you come together with us, you can go anywhere in the gay nightlife.
Inclusions: One drink included at each bar (3000 yen value), Table charge (1000-3000 yen value), Alcoholic Beverages
Exclusions: Drinks after the first drink at each bar
I had an amazing time with Naoki on this tour. He was open and honest about what it is like to be gay in Japan and he opened doors, literally and figuratively, into the hidden world of the gay bars and lounges in Nichome. Without him, it is easy to find the places on the first floor that cater to tourists, but he took us to small bars that had specialized drinks (lemon with gin, vodka, etc.) and specialized crowds, from DragonMen to Twinks. He was a great host and I left knowing a lot more about the LGBT scene in Japan. I met so many people in one evening! From a 70 year old architect who used to be closeted to a 30 year old opera singer and concert pianist. Naoki took great photos of the evening so I could focus on enjoying myself. He never pushed us to spend more (one drink was included at each of three bars) but he made time for us if we wanted to try something else. I felt like I was with a friend and not a guide. All along, Naoki was clear on email and with the details of where to meet and in the end he sent a detailed map of the area. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who does not have the Japanese language skills to navigate these bars and lounges.

The tour was just like a live stream. You will get on a rickshaw and your friendly driver will show you around in Kyoto. After the ride, your guide will walk with you and take you to the beautiful bamboo forest and Tenruji Temple. You will also meet monkeys at the park in Iwatayama! The only thing I was disappointed about was I couldn't taste the Shojin Ryori or Buddhist vegetarian meal that our guide Mickey-san showed and explained. I should be on the real tour!

Yoshi was a great tour guide. He tells a lot of stories and takes you to your desired places and then some. We went to the National Gardens, stopped to say hi to Hachiko, and went to the Chiku Chiku Cafe. The Hedgehogs were so cute! They're usually nocturnal and the one I was visiting, Butter, was really tired and wanted to sleep so I only took a couple pictures and let him rest the rest of the time :) Take care Yoshi! Hope you have more fun adventures

Had a great time with our lovely tour guide. We started off in a building that sells collectibles, which we wouldn't have known about if it wasn't for our guide. After that, we headed off to a maid café where we got ourselves some lovely dessert in the shape of bears and bunnies. The chocolate latté was amazing! Really friendly maids despite not being able to speak English. Took some pictures with the maids and then continued to a nearby gaming hall where we dressed up for some purikura shots. We got good information about the Akihabara area and Japanese culture in general. Interesting to speak to a Japanese person about life in Japan. Overall a really great tour which I would recommend!
Take a trip down Memory Lane! Afterwards, we will make our way to Golden Gai, beloved for its nightlife and historical architecture.
