Many attractions by this name or in this area: Giriganga is the river. The source has an ancient temple. On the highway there's a nice HPTDC Hotel Giri Ganga that's great to relax at. The peak above is a trek. The temple and source of river are accessible via rough track (by car/bike during good weather) and on foot. The route gets muddy and slushy during rains and snowfall so be careful. There's some parking at the temple. A welcoming priest is present morning early morning till evening. Camping is not allowed and the area is regularly patrolled by forest guard. Permission required to stay overnight in the jungle from Rohru forest division. The temple area gets good amount of snow during winters and during the peak winters will be closed/inaccessible. Kuppar peak trail goes along the Giri Ganga 'stream' behind the temple. It is a half day walk to the top of the peak through a dense jungle. The inclination and foliage makes it slippery during bad weather (rain/snow). Be careful.

A beautiful place to hike near Shimla, its a easy trek and families can also go here. Do carry lots of water with you as there is no source of water en-route. On a clear day you can see the mountains all around and its a good place for photography.

The climb can be quite high in certain places - especially with the steps. There is a more scenic route as well - with less height but takes longer - is a much nicer walk. The temple is filled with monkeys so be careful of your belongings
