10 Nature & Parks in Rhodes That You Shouldn't Miss

April 12, 2022 Lashaunda Abraham

The largest of the twelve Dodecanese islands on the Aegean's eastern edge, Rhodes is also its most popular. The well-preserved medieval city of Rhodes sits at the north of the island of the same name. High rise hotels line the northern and eastern coastlines. Small villages and resorts dot the island's other shores. Whether your interests are beaches, bars or ancient sites, Rhodes offers an abundance of all three. Authentic Greece can be found in the hilly interior of the 50-mile-long island.

Must be the best stretch of beach on the island. Nice drive down off the main road and lots of parking adjacent to the beach. Lots of facilities, toilets, beach bars, shops. Lovely naturist section at the end for a safe natural swim, 3 or 4 lovely taverna's at the top of the hill for lunch or dinner. A must place to visit if you are on the island travelling around

Prasonisi Beach

Reviewed By Mabherick - Leeds, United Kingdom

We went in summer so it was possible to walk all the way across to the island of Prasonisi, however our one year old was happy playing in the surf so we never got the chance. Can’t wait until we go again so we can have a better explore! The beach is beautiful and sandy, and as it narrows to the sand bar that goes over to the smaller island, you can stand in such a position that waves hit you from both sides, quite a unique experience. The water was so warm it was like getting into a bath. The sand was hot- flip flops recommended! The water is beautiful and clean and there are plenty of kite surfers taking advantage of the breeze. We had a wonderful day out here and both my husband and I agreed it was the best beach we had been to on Rhodes.

We first saw the unique Bay from the Acropolis of Lindos. Driving down to it we passed a fine Soccer Field, had free parking and an easy walk down to the beach with rentable Cabanas. The Bay is beautiful, water is clear. You can see the rim of the Acropolis and out through a narrow opening to the Aegean. Historically, there is a Chapel commemorating the visit of Saint Paul on his 3rd. Missionary Journey.

Profitis Ilias

Profitis Ilias. Here is the abandoned villa of Mussolini (also known as Villa de Vecchi). It got its name from the Italian commander of the Dodecanese archipelago under Mussolini Count Cesare Mario de Vecchi. This ardent supporter of the Italian National Fascist Party and a confidant of the Duce rebuilt a beautiful historic building to live in it, and in the summer use it as a summer residence of Benito Mussolini. The leader of the Italian fascists intended to spend in Rhodes the last years of his life after retirement, but did not manage to visit the island. Thus, the house went down in history as "Villa Mussolini", although the Duce never saw him. At the moment, the villa is already many years old and it is completely abandoned. After the Italians left the islands for some time, it was the spa house of the Greek royal family, and then - after the liquidation of the monarchy - became the property of the Greek state ???? To get to the villa, you can climb up the small slopes. But there is one “but” - the road to Profitis Illas is quite winding (serpentine), so if you are sensitive to such things, think better. ????

I was staying at at the Atalanti Hotel outside Falaraki. It was a pleasant twenty minute walk to this lovely little cove every day. Although I am a qualified diver I had not even brought a snorkel with me but I could play around the rocks every day watching fish. Lovely cove. The vendors for the sun loungers were friendly the beach bar served lovely food even if it was very expensive

There are several beaches around Lindos so this review just covers the sandy beach bay where the tourist boats land. Excellent sandy beach with plenty of sunbeds and parasols to hire. At the back of the beach are several restaurants and bars. Ideal for people watching. From this beach east uphill access to Lindos old town which is a must visit. The whole area is very attractive.
