Pamutusan Island

Reviewed By alohahayana - Bali, Indonesia

My friend and me, only two of us, stayed in a Mami's tree house in Pamutusan! The island was literally only for us because we came in Friday before noon, when no other visitors yet (they normally come on Saturday midday). We swam here and there, took a nap for real on the beach without disturbance! So, if you want to come here like us, spare your time to come at least one day before weekend. This place worth the sacrifice of taking one day off from your office. How to get there? We traveled in a cheap mean, we drove the motorbike (rented from Padang) to Sei Pisang through very challenging upside down hill roads. Not recommended if you are not an expert in riding motorbike. We met a group of youth from next town drove their Jazz car to Sei Pisang too, unbelieveable! haha Well, you can also rent a boat or join a trip of boats heading to the islands (Pamutusan, Pasumpahan and Pagang if you have the budget for it.Oh ya, in Sei Pisang, we asked for a service go and return boat trip from Ayah Ali. He and his wife, and his nephew were so kind and gave us reasonable price compared to others, trust us! And, if you want to stay in Pamutusan, without any tent, you can stay in Mami's place, she has around 5 rooms or more, one of them is a tree house. Don't expect for luxury, but the service is more than enough for us. Mami, Papi and Om were very chatty. If you stay in the tree house you can sleep with the breeze from ocean, bring something to cover your body with and taste Mami's delicious food (you have to buy outside of room rent), she is a good chef!

Mandeh Island

We weren't planning to visit here in the first place, however after hearing recommendation from the locals, we decided to go take the chance and go there. It's a 3 hour drive from Padang, and once you get there, you need to rent a boat to explace the area. I suggest that you take the cheapest one which cost IDR 650,000 or roughly USD 50 to explorer 4-5 places. The water and beaches are clean, and the scenery was beautiful. Definately a go to place when you're in West Sumatra

Anai Valley Waterfall

Where else you can get to a waterfall without much walking or hiking? The waterfall looks great, with cool and clear water under it. The entrance fee was Rp.5K/person. A nice place to stop for a while and stretch your leg between Padang and Bukittinggi.
