North Conway, part of New Hampshire's scenic Mount Washington Valley, has been dubbed the offspring of a quintessential New England village and a Gap outlet. Historic buildings, quaint antique shops, bookstores and bakeries coexist peacefully with big name outlet stores like J. Jill, Nike and Dansk. For seasoned shoppers, it represents the best of worlds, part old-country charm, part new-world bargains. Plagued for years by busy routes and traffic jams, the new North-South road has made it somewhat easier to get around and enjoy all the area has to offer. In addition to shopping, visitors will find ample opportunities for hiking, biking, skiing and rock climbing in the majestic White Mountains. In fact, North Conway is home to the renowned International Mountain Climbing School, which attracts climbers from around the world. Accommodations range from cozy inns and historic bed and breakfasts, to full-service resorts, ensuring a comfortable haven for all tastes and budgets.

An 800-foot cliff for climbing that is located in the White Mountains.
You must do it. Incredible views looking over the White Mtns and across the valley to the Town of Conway, NH There is an auto road choice over climbing the back side of the trail to the top of the White Horse Ledge During the Summer rock climbers come up the ledge right in front of you as you are viewing from the top. Highly recommend this climb for a family. It is well worth the effort.

A rock cliff that is popular with climbers.
After viewing the ledge from Echo lake we took the short drive up to the ledge. It was a beautiful clear day - views were beautiful, mountains in the distance, Echo lake from the top, rock climbers making their way up.

Absolutely worth the time and money! This was our second year going thru Northern Extremes. They have it together from start to finish. Everyone at Northern Extremes is helpful and knowledgeable. Don't bother with the other companies....go with the pros. Our guide was Mike S. A big thank you for a great trip!!!

If you can wait out an hour long line to get into the parking and then surprisingly come up with needed cash while you are already parked you are good to go. After a short hike you are met with a playground of smooth rocks and waterfalls Climb all the way up First if you are fit and make your way down. There is a hole 9 foot deep you can plunge in if your dimensions are S-M ! Ignore the crowds and wear water shoes as some areas are slippery. Even the plastic bottles and trash thrown weren’t making an impact on my impression considering i just visited luxury hotels with more trash on their loans. This was the cleanest service free area i have seen in Conway so far ! WTG parks and recreation staff!

Love this hike! Started at Pasaconaway Road, spotted a car at Diana’s bath, about an 8 hour walk with enough upping and downing to require you be in good shape. Trail affords a variety of terrains, keeps it interesting (fair bit of ledge in some places which would be too interesting for my taste on wet days.) Many places along the traverse with 270 or 360 degree views, spectacular on a clear fall day. Recommend layers (COLD winds above the tree line, needed base+shirt+fleece+wind proof shell and hat and gloves) and sticks for the way down. In a few spots blazes were sparse, we had to explore/backtrack to find the trail twice but only for a few minutes. Recommend this hike!

Enjoyed hiking to the top of Black Cap Mountain. This is a short hike with moderate elevation, about 2.2 miles round trip. We did not get to see the views from the top as it was fogged in but we totally enjoyed this hike in the White Mountains and would recommend it to others.

Great winter hike to the falls. I'd call it moderate vs. easy because of the hills, and a little ice, although when we went the trail was mostly packed snow. About an hour in and an hour out if you just go to the bottom of the falls like we did. FYI, there is a bathroom at the trailhead but it was not clean and more like an outhouse.
