Lucerne is an ancient town with strikingly modern sensibilities. One of Europe’s oldest covered bridges serves as its centerpiece, and fresco-adorned historic houses line the streets, but it’s also home to the cutting-edge KKL, a concert hall and art gallery. Take the cableways up the Pilatus, Stanserhorn or Rigi mountains for breathtaking views, or see Lake Lucerne on a steamship cruise.

We have traveled a bit on Switzerland’s lake steamers and love the relaxing, scenic hour or two on the way to a walk, lift, or village. Lucern’s lake is beautiful and varied. Take a picnic.

Mount Rigi's majestic peninsula on Lake Lucerne is the perfect setting for an authentic Swiss mountain experience with unforgettable views of over 13 lakes and the spectacular snow-capped Swiss Alps. Located in the heart of Switzerland, Mt. Rigi can be quickly and easily reached from Lucerne and Zurich. As far as I understood there is a completely new modern art exhibition at Guetsch Hill. Highly recommended! A clever tip: scan their QR (while entering) or check it online at Izi Travel app (a must for any city of the world - just a useful life hack to save money:))). This is a free audio guide written by author while this exhibition was held in Venice at the famous Bienalle. Without an audio guide - not so good & clear what is meant. Collection of sculptures & lightboxes tells about modern sins as well as explaining Divine Comedy by Dante - the main inspiration of it. Additional point of interest - red heart sculpture and city panorama beforehand it. This is very romantic, the pictures are cool, the views are crazy - especially in the evening. After this tour follow our tip - take a cup of coffee or a glass of sparkling wine at hotel’s lobby (nearby). In addition to get there you should use a historic funicular. That’s pretty nice and especially interesting for children. So, after city center popular attractions this collection at Guetsch is highly recommended.
