Hollywood beckons to tourists who long for a brush with Tinseltown glamor. Tour movie studios, slip your hands into the famous prints at the TCL Chinese Theatre, or indulge in a celeb sighting at one of LA’s white-hot nightspots. Spot your favorite star while shopping at The Grove, or forget all about the famous eye candy as you take in the iconic artwork at The Getty Center. For a different type of star-gazing, peek through the telescopes at the Griffith Observatory.

Both children and adults will enjoy viewing sea creatures of the Pacific in their natural habitats here.
My 6-year-old granddaughter loves visiting this aquarium in San Pedro. The highlight of the visit is always the Tidal Touch Pool! The exhibits of various sea creatures and the real skeletons of huge sea animals command attention.

State historic park in the Santa Monica mountains includes hiking and equestrian trails, picnic grounds, guided tours of the Will Rogers historic ranch house and weekend polo matches.
This is an easy and beautiful hike to do, up to Inspiration Point. The lookout offers an incredible view out over the city and along the hike you can also see some pretty magnificent celebrity homes--including Spielberg's.

Covering more than 4,107 acres of natural terrain, this is the largest municipal park and urban wilderness area in the United States, which offers numerous family attractions and activities.
What a beautiful place to explore. The place is massive and so much to see. From the Griffith observatory, Old zoo, the LA zoo, Travel Town , etc.. beautiful place during the day, magical views during the night .

Located off Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills, this park is especially loved by dog-lovers since they can hike with their dogs without a leash.
Runyon Canyon is convenient to get to and offers great views of the city. It is quite popular, so you will not be alone on this hike. You can start at the top of the canyon off of Mulholland Drive, but I like to start from the bottom at the Vista Gate, because there is a steep hill up to the gate before you even enter the park. I also like to do the Hero's Trail, which is the most difficult and steep of the hikes available in the park. If you enter through the Vista Gate, as you go up the road past the water fountain, take the first left after the interior gate and you will be on the Hero's Trail. You can also just follow the road up and back to stay on pavement the whole time. If you go on a day after it rains, you can see beautiful views of Catalina Island and the Pacific Ocean, as well as of the whole city. It is a beautiful spot and a place to get some great exercise hiking some steep hills. (photos taken on various hikes over the years)

Great place to go hiking on any of the several scenic trails that surround the lake.
Only went here as our teenage son wanted to see the FaZe house where professional gamers live. It is right next to the reservoir. Glad he made us make the trip. This is a hidden gem. We were the only ones there mid week but apparently gets crowded with 2000+ people in weekend. The was the closest and clearest view of the Hollywood sign (much closer than Griffith) and a relax hiking destination. Super friendly ranger just happened to be on hand and was full of info. He pointed out some celebrity houses, explained history of the reservoir and some quirky stories, like when it was closed so that President Clinton could jog the trails.

There are quite a few things to do in Exposition Park from the Natural History Museum, to the African History Museum to the gardens. You can easily spend 1/2 day to a full-day in this location. Great place to take the Kids as they will burn off a fair amount of energy while learning and expanding their awareness.

This beautiful state park spans 9,000 acres of varied terrain.
This was a fantastic hike - especially in the clear, cool weather we had today - at the top of the trail and Eagle Rock, we could see all the way out to Catalina Island and the Palos Verdes peninsula!! Wasn't expecting that! I found this hike when I was looking for trails with lighter traffic - it's inside Topanga State Park. It's the lesser traveled trail that gets you up to Eagle Rock and it's awesome! It was very lightly traveled - even on a Sunday!! I was so shocked! There were tons of people (and mountain bikers!!) on the heavier trafficked trail that takes you to the rock - and lots of people at the rock, but not on Musch Trail! No bikers at all - it's pretty narrow and rocky in places - and very few other hikers - and we even got there around 10am! The trail had a lot of shade - very cool temperatures and breezy. It was absolutely perfect! Lots of beautiful vegetation and trees. I think AllTrails might be a little off (again lol) - it says this hike is a loop at 4.4 miles with 921 feet elevation gain - but my fitness tracker says we did 5.5 miles, out and back (not a loop), and had only 763 feet of elevation gain. Took us about 3.5 hours - but we stopped for tons of pics and played around on Eagle Rock for quite while. Overall, for me, this hike was mostly easy for the first bit and then I'd say the last mile or so becomes moderate with the most elevation gain. There's a moment when you get up a hill and need to go right to get to the rock - but there's a wider trail to the left too - be aware on your way back bc we almost walked right past this turn to get back - it's kinda hidden! And we were chatting away and not watching too closely - luckily we spotted it in time! Eagle Rock itself is so fun!! It's very steep but the rock wasn't slippery so it was ok to walk up - just take your time and be careful. There's a cool cave to climb in to for pics too! I loved this hike!! Be sure to park at the main parking all the way up Entrada Road - I think it's the "Trippet Ranch" parking. We initially parked like a mile down below (at Dead Horse Trail I think) but that would've added 2 miles onto our hike. We paid $7 to park at the lower lot - then had to pay again at the actual lot - it was another $10!! They don't give you credit so plan ahead and don't make my mistake lol! They have good bathrooms at the trailhead and also about halfway in where the trail crosses the fire road so that was wonderful!! Easy to stay hydrated! Highly recommend this trail! It's become a fave!

This is one of the less crowded beaches between Venice and Malibu and certainly one of the best. It's the Pacific as you imagined it, with level white sand and clear views to the horizon. Parking seems to be the issue with many visitors, but ignore them. Parking is nine bucks - this is California - but it puts you right on the beach, steps from the sand, while others are looking for free on-street parking and end up carrying tons of gear for several city blocks. Too much waster time and effort!
