Centennial Plaza, Permaculture and Native Plant Display Garden

Centennial Plaza was created in the middle of the Town Hall Complex in Clarkdale, AZ to demonstrate the beauty and efficiency of xeriscaping. Capturing 5,100 gallons in underground cisterns and additional water in 9 catchments, the three-year old garden features an array of native and adaptive desert plants thriving in a low-water environment. It's amazing how beautiful desert landscaping can be!

Mingus Mountain Area

Great of both sides of the mountain! We drove the road going from Prescott to Jerome. In fewer than 35 miles, Arizona State Route 89A goes from scrubby prairies up to mountains topped by pines and aspens. It’s quite the drive. Beginning from Prescott, it’s mostly rolling scrub oak hills. From there it winds and climbs steeply up the mountain. Wow! What a climb. At the top, there’s an amazing view of valley below. The road winds down into a canyon with a big mining operation off to one side. Lots of copper pulled from the mountains here. And finally, the road travels to and through Jerome and down to Clarkdale. It is such an amazing drive. We loved it.

Reviewed By RookM - Clarkdale, United States

Mingus Mountain is high up perched above the Verde Valley area and offers spectacular viewing of the valley below. Trails are maintained and join up with other trail numbering as you hike. Take water as this trail is longer with views, nature and fresh air and little else. Lightly trafficked so the trek was perfect for getting away. To find, drive all the way up Mingus Mountain on 89A, at the crest turn south on Forest Road 104 untill trailhead.
