These ancient trade routes between China and the West began in Xi’an, China, stretched across the mountains of Central Asia, the deserts of Persia, the plains of India to the Mediterranean.
It’s exceptionally breathtaking 10 days trip. Our private tour guide is very knowledgeable of the area and we did not miss any important history landmarks. From the Gobi desert...... to Macao Caves .... then The Rainbow Mountains of China within the Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park, wonder of the world. These famous Chinese mountains are known for their colours that mimic a rainbow painted over the tops of rolling mountains. The Zhangye National Geopark is located in Sunan and Linze counties

A classical garden complete with period style buildings. The Garden was created by Pan Yunduan a Government Officer for his family finishing in 1577.
This 400-years-old garden built in Ming dynasty is an authentically old Chinese style garden with wooden bridges, old style houses, ponds with carps and turtles, mountain-like rock, carved dragons and greenery garden. A temple is nearby that one should visit too.

Known for its scenic beauty, this 120-mile stretch of the Yangtze River is a primary attraction on river cruises.
Amazing views. Well worth taking a cruise to see it all. Interesting that the water level has gone up so much.

It's so close to the city and even where the HK airport is, you can find the most scenic hiking trails, fishing village, beautiful beaches and good variety of restaurants all in one. The island is big and better to plan out your day on what you want to do. One cannot see everything in one day and can spend different days on different things to do. it's more than just the shopping mall and Disneyland.

You will see adorable giant pandas playing on the well maintained ground. Walking the paths itself is also very pleasant with lots of bamboo providing shades and look very cool. This place is not only for kids, there are many adults coming by themselves and enjoy the nice walking and watching the playful pandas. The park is huge, there are many pandas spread out at different locations. I would be surprised if you don't see one out there during your visit. We saw different groups of pandas - baby pandas, adult pandas, red pandas,....on the ground, on trees, and on wooden structures,....They are so cute! We took lots of pictures and video clips. A place with lots of fond memories.

One of China's most celebrated scenic areas, Laoshan presents a panorama of mountains, cliffs, waterfalls and temples.
Snow capped peaks in winter! Perfect time to visit with barely any visitors. Spectacular views from the top! Great for hikers. We caught the 104 bus which starts at Taidong and travels down to the Xianggang West and Xianggang East Road (the West road becomes the East Road) along the coast until you reach Laoshan about 35km away. The cost is RMB3 from Taidong (terminus) to the Tourism Office of Laoshan. You just hop on and the ticket lady will tell you the correct fare to pay her. You need to book your tickets to the Laoshan scenic areas at the Tourism office before entering the park. Cost is RMB120 pp (low season) and RMB90 for students. Peak is RMB150 and RMB105 respectively. We then took one of the private driver’s offer of RMB300 for the day and she took us along the coast to see the Frog Rock, Laozhi statue, a look out to the Tea plantation and then Huayan Temple where we did a hike for a 1.5 hour round trip up the mountain. The temple was only 20mins walk up. We started at 10am and returned to Taidong around 6pm. The bus trip was 1hr in the morning (no traffic) but 2 hrs on the way back (peak weekday traffic). The private drivers speaks virtually no English and will try to take you to tea houses to sample teas and coerce you to buy or encourage you to eat at one of the restaurants. They won’t force you so gently decline if you are not interested. Note: there are no food options other than these restaurants so bring snacks or eat a good breakfast before you head out!!

Historical place to see in Suzhou city. You should see inclined temple on the top of the hill. It was rainy in begining of August.

We climbed to the top of Baiyun Mountain, enjoyed the super-good fresh air, and the energizing hike.

Taking it at a leisurely pace, walking up to Yuelu Temple was worth the effort. Lots of meandering pathways and tombs through the mountainside. Worth the effort if you enjoy the combination of nature and sites. The monastery is working so some places are off limits. A little rundown, it still provides a great insight into the history and heritage of the region. It was reasonably crowded for a day when it was a chilly 6 degrees. I can imagine in warmer weather, there would be even more people.

This is one of the four most important gardens in China. Perfectly preserved and well maintained. Shows off the ancient Chinese fixation with stone formations and meaning. Great use of water with crisscrossing pathways shaded vantage points and focus on colour. Lovely collection of mature bonsais and plenty of opportunities to relax and unwind in a tranquil space despite the number of people. A highly recommended way to spend a couple of hours.
