Small woods.. beautiful wild flowers and everyone gets involved in the climbing because the trees that fell down (in 1987 storm) are still down.. very quiet and peaceful place.. we walked all around and did no more than 2 miles.. I think that they used to be huge but housing has forced a reduction in size.. worth a visit.. free car park.. dogs allowed.. nice couple of hours to spend..

Tucked away from the high street, so worth a short five minute walk to discover this little piece os tranquility.

This is a popular place for locals for a reason. The woods are well managed and you see the variety of woodlands at different phases of management. We love this place. Walk there if you can as parking is limited.

My husband and I walked through these gardens quite a few times over our three day stay in Canterbury, very peaceful and tranquil, walking along the river, also enjoyed a lovely cup of tea, weather permitting in the outdoor terrace.

Went to the picnic site for the first time and have to say I was pleasantly surprised! It has all the amenities you would need and even though it was busy due to the water sports taking place it did not feel it (apart from in the car park). There are some lovely walks along the river, a play area, plenty of a space for a picnic, toilets and a small place selling cooked food, drinks and ice creams. If you are looking for somewhere for a family get together then this is the place. You can choose to be close to the toilets or a little bit further away, but wherever you decide to set up you will feel away from others. The only things I will say are take a blanket as there aren’t many picnic tables; and take a bag for your rubbish as there aren’t many bins.

This is not generally a park you come across by chance but it runs along the side of the river stour between one of the carparks and a lane next to the Marlowe theatre. It is small but a really nice place to walk and also it is interesting to look at the houses on the opposite river bank.

This is a great playground for children with swings for various ages, a zip wire which our grandchildren are too young for yet, imaginative slides and wooden houses that children love to spend time in. Then you can see the boats going by on the river and walk easily into Westgate Gardens and feed the ducks and moorhens. What more could young children want??? We take some frozen sweet corn or peas which have defrosted by the time we get to the ducks and they love this, often coming up on to the riverbank along with the pigeons. The bridge between Toddlers Cove and the Gardens have some lovely pictures and a poem by local poet Maggie Harris. If you are doing any grannie or grandpa sitting which we do once a week this is definitely a place to go.
