Slick Rock Falls

Reviewed By Eastwardgypsy - Columbia, United States

Pisgah National Forest has quite a few gems, and there are dozens of waterfalls. This is an excellent addition to add to the end of a day! You can drive up the Forest Service Rd, which is a bit unnerving when there’s traffic because it’s only wide enough for one vehicle at a time. It’s gravel but in pretty decent shape. You can park on the side of the road and take a quick 2 minute walk to the falls, which are visible from the road. Catch in late evening when the sun hits it. You can trek up the road a quarter mile and see Little Fern Falls, which has no place to pull off. A short hike starting across from Slick Rock. Slick Rock is approximately 25 feet high from the vantage point, where you can fet underneath it. It’s probably 50 feet tall from top to bottom. A short steep stone staircase leads to a short flat path.

Took my 4 yo grandson here. Caught 3 trout in 1 hour. Perfect amount in the the right amount of time. Had the “farm” clean and fillet them. Delicious for dinner the same night. I would highly recommend this stocked fishing pond experience for little kids.
