Sometimes called the “Portuguese Rome” for its many churches, Braga is an ancient town in northwest Portugal. Its history and livelihood are tied to Christianity dating to the 3rd century. The city’s 12th-century Sé (Cathedral) is still one of the most popular attractions. Just outside of town lies the renowned Bom Jesus de Monte pilgrimage sanctuary, with its striking Baroque stairway. After dark, the stoic town turns upside down, with a rich nightlife thanks to its many university students.

My favourite place in Braga just for its beauty and laid back charm. The white Braga sign is here for the perfecr tourist snap. The incredible Igreja de Santa Cruz with its spellbinding golden altar is on one corner and the magnificent San Marco Church is at the far end. Lovely well kept grass and shrubs in the square, an absolute pleasure to relax in or walk around.

These is the most Famous Avenue in Braga , not so much for the stores and restaurants but because it connects the city Center Square to the parque da Ponte where it is located the São João chapel (São João is the most famous festivity in Braga) . The top part of the avenue is walk only (no cars) with a nice garden , some nice buildings , the famous Theatro Circo and Avenida Liberdade Street Fashion. .

Strolling along the historic center of Braga, this garden - a real oasis - will certainly catch your attention! Located along the Eastern wing of the "Palácio Episcopal de Braga" (literally, the palace of the archbishops of Braga in English), the "Jardim de Santa Bárbara" consists of beautiful manicured flower gardens, sided by the ruins of arcades that once were part of the medieval archbishop's palace. In the garden's center, a 17th century fountain, topped by a statue of Saint Barbara, an early martyr of the Christian faith. The garden is named after her. Take your time and enjoy the garden and its million beautiful flowers. Due to scenic lighting, evening visits can also be very pleasant! Enjoy!

I visited the museum on the second day of my stay in the city. The price was good (only a couple euros) and it was definitely worth it. The gardens were beautiful and quite relaxing. The house itself can only be visited as part of a “tour”, as in you’ll be in a group with a guide, who’ll open each room after everybody will be done with the one being currently visited. The house boasts an astonishing collection of paintings and period furniture. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the city!!
