We needed a hike after days at a beach resort, this place offers highly paved trail around slough (2+ miles) , a nicely paved trail in the woods (0;8 miles) and 0.5 hikes on trail and is attached to longer trails on Spanish River. There were plenty of wildlife to keep one entertained and all adjacent to a wonderful library. Very much enjoyed!

This is a large and very varied park. All of which is immaculate. We came for a nice open-air walk, no golfing this trip. Although most people were not wearing makes, it was a nice breezy day and you could always move away from people. It is such a calm and happy place. From the father/son flying a kite, people playing in the dog run with their dogs, picnics under the pavillions to people using watercraft. Everyone is enjoying themselves. So many things to do here. We even saw a bunch of adults playing Dodge ball. Plenty of open space. Worth the drive.

There is so much active fun here that I don't know where to start! Foam pits. Ball pits. Climbing tower. Climbing mountain. Climbing play structures. Mazes. Giant slide. Racing slides. Tubing slide. Trampoline. For the toddlers, there's an entire room just for them, with a big slide, ball pit, ball carousel, rocking bus, whirly tube, blocks, building bricks, and manipulatives on the walls. For the older kids, there's also rock climbing, column jumping, and a canopy walk. They sell pizza and candy and drinks. Bring socks for the kids and grownups, or you can buy them there. You do need to register your kids before the first visit, which you can do online or on one of the kiosks at the entrance. For kids with special needs, be aware that this is a busy, noisy place.

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

This 20 acre coastal preserve is a destination you don’t want to miss! Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is surrounded by a rare remnant of tropical hardwood hammock, located on a barrier island in Boca Raton. Take a stroll through the butterfly garden, where many species of wild butterflies can be seen year-round. Walk the Ashley Trail and relax in the authentic Chiki overlooking the Intracoastal. A variety of native fish and other marine animals reside in marine aquariums. Visit the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Facility to learn about our sea turtle patients. Indoor displays feature wildlife indigenous to South Florida and a series of stained glass windows depicting the coastal island as it may have appeared in the 1500s. Florida Atlantic University has an onsite marine biology laboratory with a gallery for viewing research projects conducted by university scientists. Purchase imaginative and environmentally friendly gifts from our nature-themed gift shop.

Sugar Sand Park

Sugar Sand Park features the Community Center, which houses the Children's Science Explorium and the Willow Theatre; and the Field House, which features an indoor gymnasium. Developed by the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District and operated by the City of Boca Raton, this 132-acre park continues its commitment to enhance the role of recreation and culture for residents and visitors alike. Sugar Sand Park is open 365 days a year - the Community Center and Children's Science Explorium are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Built to American Society for Testing & Materials standards, the Science Playground is strong and safe, with a soft, impact-attenuating ground surface. This surface is also the key to the wayfinding feature, allowing parents and children to pinpoint their exact location within the playground through identifying markings. The inclusive playground features new swings, slides, and an expanded climbing structure that allows for greater access to people of all ages and abilities, and greater visibility for parents and children alike. The updated interactive water feature showcases a variety of sea creatures, and a new train station-themed toddler play area has been added.
