Come see reptiles from around the World. From snakes to lizards to dragons to crocs... The TRZ is located in Central Texas and is an exhibit, education and behavioral research facility where patrons can view and learn about varied species of Reptiles from around the World.
I’m not a huge fan of snakes and such BUT... when my kids make me go to these places it’s not that bad. It’s really cool to see all of the different species. This place was fun for all ages.

We LOVED our quick trip to Fisherman's Park! From the picnic, BBQ, and volleyball to the sandy beach on the river, we will definitely be back!

At this 182-acre park, experience our aquatic playground on Lake Bastrop with Hero Water Sports. The park also offers watercraft rentals, picnic areas, hike and bike trails, and a camp store for snacks and souvenirs. Tent camping, Airstream accommadations and RV amenities are available for overnight stays.
There are 5 Airstreams that you can rent at this park. They are first class! Fully furnished inside and out. Beautiful fire pit with starter wood included, Yeti cooler, bag of ice, perfectly cleaned gas grill. Comfy seats around the fire pit. And all with great views of the lake. We came with 4 other couples for New Year’s and enjoyed every bit of the park. Will definitely come again.

A Large portion of the Bastrop State Park was destroyed by a devasting fire in September of 2011. The community along with the State and other organizations have been replanting the trees. Although it doesn't possess the same beauty it offers an interesting perspective in how a forest is regrown. There are still a number of areas that were not burned that you can see as well as a number of the Historic buildings. This park is listed in the National Historic Registry. There is RV and tent camping available. Bastrop State Park is located next to Buescher State Park and suffered very little damage. You can see the beauty of the Lost Pines, see what a fire can do to a forest and see the Lost Pines in their toddler stage of growth. Both Bastrop and Buescher State Parks are not far from the North and South shores of Lake Bastrop where you can enjoy a wonderful weekend at the Lake.
We've stayed here 3 times and each time the park looks better and better. It's been 10 years since the fire and lots of new growth. Nice hiking trails, easy for the kiddos Too! Bathrooms are immaculate, hosts do a great job keeping them clean. On weekends, the park provides programs too. They are rebuilding the dam now. We stayed in Piney Hill.

Lake Bastrop is a power plant cooling lake owned by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). Access to Lake Bastrop is available through the South Shore and North Shore Parks.
Stopped by looking for kayaking possibilities. Ranger was extremely helpful in providing information about the lake and services available. Definitely a spot for a future kayaking outing. Stopped and "toured" one of the Airstream trailers available to rent. They are well provisioned, look like fun, but price is a bit out of our budget. Could be a really great time if you aren't watching your dollars!
